3 things that killed Miles

1) Declining # of SEC wins. The SECW has gotten much better across the board ion the last few years. He has refused to adapt.
2) Absolute unwillingness to change what he believes is a winning formula. He's old school and his "line mine up against yours and beat ya because we want it more" approach does not work with the level of competition LSU has. Agin he has failed to adapt.
And the reason nobody seems to be talking about:
3) The recruiting pitch that includes: "You can play early and go to the NFL when you're ready." This is crucial - not a single senior in the starting 22 !! It is hard to win tough games with no seniors on the field. I think Miles and company have recruited well - but cannot keep guys around for 4 years. Imagine this team with Beckham and Landry and Kwon Alexander. In my mind, this is Les' biggest problem.

3. How do you know this is miles recruiting pitch? That's the players choice is it not. Kinda the risk/reward of going after high profile recruits

#3 is so annoying
I remember this board and the recruiting board clamoring about how good it is for our program to send all these JRs to the NFL. I couldn't do anything but shake my head and move on. It was like a damn cult following after 2011 and 2012 claiming that ignorant shite.
That destroyed us as much as Miles offense did.

If he could have fixed #2 and consistently develop qb's #3 doesn't matter and it would've taken care of #1.
Eta....changed to a past tense cause it's over after Saturday.

(1) 2011 - Oklahoma state kicker missed by 2 inches
(2) 2012 - Chavis defense let screen pass with 51 secs in 2012 Bama game
(3) 2014 - Lost where we got the ball on the Alabama 6 yard line with 1 minute left.
Any of those 3 go the other way and he has another natty and we aren't even remotely discussing this. Very simple.

1. Never developed a H.S. QB recruit. None have shown progression.
2. Abysmal clock management so many times. Also, never getting the play in quick enough to our Offense.
3. Too many losses to Bama
4. 13-10 SEC record the past 3 years - not good enough to keep your job at LSU.
5. The Mad Hatter has pulled a few games out with trick plays because there was not an alternative. These acts are out of desperation.
6. Although he's recruited decently in Louisiana (any LSU coach should have a monopoly on this) he's lost some key recruits to Bama over the years.
7. LSU has more NFL players than any other school. That is based on talent. How well were these players coached at LSU to win more SEC games and championships. The math don't add up.

There are quite a few fourth year players in the starting 22.
Mills, Debo, Louis, Vadal, Hawkins, Dural, Gordon (before injury). That was almost 1/3 of the starting lineup. Most are juniors because they redshirted.
Your point is still valid. Part of the recruiting pitch is that you can play early because we don't have squat coming back at your position. Obviously that's no way to run a team.

Miles is a great recruiter. But his great recruiting classes do not make a great team because a team is only as strong as its weakest link. There are multiple positions and you need to complete a starting roster not just 10 WR's that don't have anyone to throw to them. Or no LB's to help the D-line stop the run etc etc.
LSU is so loaded at some positions yet so thin at others. Add that to the equation.
