I agree. It's happened already:

Saban-2004

Miles-2008

Saban-2010, 2013, 2016

The only opinions that truly matter are the players and they love the hire. He nailed down our previous recruiting class and if anyone else was hired we likely would have fallen back a year in recruiting. Every single coach that O has worked under has said he's going to do great things for LSU. But I guess we should all trust some idiot Tigerdroppings posters when they say we could have gotten better, he's over paid, blah blah blah.

He went and grabbed some of the best assistants across the country who both said that they wouldn't of come if it weren't coach O. He picked up a legend DL coach, one of the best recruiters from the west coast/
RBs coach, also picked up the premiere OC from the east coast, then grabbed an up n comer in Joseph for the N.O. area which is vital to LSU while cutting all the fat off left over from Les Miles.

If coach O wins IDGAF what his previous experiences were, his record was, what his accent sounds like, or what our fans think they know about what he brings to the table. Simply win while teaching these young men how to grow positively, get an LSU education, and stack up our roster with superior talent with superior depth behind it and that's all that will really matter.

When O does accomplish all these things I'm going to laugh my arse off when I still hear LSU could have gotten better. I know I will lmao.

Because 18-22 year old kids always know what's best.

They also called Ole Miss' AD back in 2005 and campaigned for him to get that job. Is Ole Miss LSU? No. But you can't discount that he was the worst coach in their history. O can shut all the haters up by producing on the field, though. My worries are not about this year and next year, necessarily. It's about a couple years down the road, when the roster is stocked with his recruits and he has to go out and replace Aranda and Canada.

I wouldn't say distant, but yes, er'body is looking up to Bama as the standard bearers and favorites. But, they are beatable, and Coach O's team has a legit change.

I think that 'Bama is in LSU's head. LSU had better find some offense or things will get ugly in a hurry.

okay...let's break this down one by one.

quote:

Bill Belichick-type technical coaches they want for some weird reason.

Yeah i can't fathom why we would want 'that' kind of coach.

quote:

his assistants make more than he does

Umm, no.

it's likely correct considering their coaching staff composition.

The majority of the top programs in college football depend on their HC to be the best coach in the program, thats why he's the HEAD coach. Maybe it works, but it's a longshot at best.

Ya know, based on history and facts

You keep saying this over and over and over again. But there is literally NO basis for saying Canada is a Top 3 OC. Aranda, sure, maybe the best.

But i'll post Canada's offenses again compared with Miles...

Miles...

Canada...

And before you go there, Gary Crowton was a Broyles finalist as well. And he was putrid.

Including #1, Miles has 4 of the top 5 offenses in LSU history and Canada has some work to do. Geaux Canada.

Good win...but it's just one game.

our subsequent recruiting performance

7 of the top 10 LA recruits went elsewhere. SEVEN. That hasn't happened since the 90s. He'll even les' 2005 class signed 6/10...and we only had 13 total recruits.

acquisition of Matt Canada as OC

I posted his career stats earlier. He may be good, but he's done nothing to justify to praise that you inject on him.he had 1 good year.

The best thing he's done is keep Les miles' DC.

All Miles had to do was relent on his offensive involvement and hire a QB recruiting/developing guru, and he would possible have won it twice and still be at the helm.

That's like saying I'd have 6 pack abs if I didn't love Tex Mex and ice cream.

It's a moot point. Different talent levels against different competition.
