We have played 2 games that were within reach in the 2nd half. In both of these games, the LSU defense has not registered a single stop. They have given up a score on every single second half possession vs both FSU and Ark.

Both of these games the defense was solid in the first half - not great but not bad, then just totally fell apart in the 2nd half.

I don’t know if any of this can be fixed. We don’t have the personnel in the secondary to bring pressure and play man. The front 4 simply cannot consistently contain and/or pressure quarterbacks for us to sit back in zone.

This is the least talented defense I’ve seen in a very long time. There isn’t a single above average player in the secondary. Wingo is awesome and Perkins is being unleashed a little better. I’ve seen some promise from Saivion Jones and Womack, but we need those guys to come along a lot faster to help us out.

There are some positives. Jefferson and Guillory look like a legit run stuffing tandem up front. Weeks has showed a on of promise for a freshman and will only continue to get better.

We knew our corners would struggle, but the loss of brooks has totally magnified our secondary issues. We need someone to step up at the safety position. Burns and Sam are very poor open field tacklers. Burns cannot cover and simply resorts to grabbing when he is beat. Gotta try something different back there.

The pass rush was not bad last night. We had four sacks and about 10 hurries. Our DBs cannot hold up when they need to plaster and Jefferson is good at extending the play.

I think we need to do delayed blitzing. Too many times we rushed the qb and he moves up and nobody is able to make a play on QB. LSU struggles against good and fast QBs.

Alarming.

It would have been a Florida State type meltdown if the offense had blinked with drops or turnovers like game 1. The defense wasn't stopping anything. The offense had to score on every possession. That's obviously not sustainable.

Issues across the board and definitely not a playoff caliber defense. The opponents seem to make adjustments and we don’t. Which is opposite of what we saw last season.

LSU can’t get to the QB rushing four, and our DBs can’t guard for more than four seconds.

Major Burns is a massive liability in zone coverage and man coverage.

LSU needs to get creative with bringing pressure, because we could drop 9 and still have holes in our zone

Pass rush is fine, you hope most refs don't swallow their whistles like the last crew did on holding. The secondary is not good right now, and will probably not be good at the end of the year. The lack of high end athletic talent is pretty sobering, and I'm worried about recruiting as it doesn't seem we are fixing that issue. X's and O's are slightly failing is but Jimmy and Joes are really really hurting.

I lost track of how many times we slipped in behind him and he just scooted up into a clean pocket and threw to an open man.

I was surprised our DL didn’t impose their will more on Arkansas OL. Thought their OL was beat up. Not dominating the LOS is the source of the problem in the 2nd half IMO.

Harris looked good. Got beaten once. Good physical tackles. They stopped throwing his direction. He'll lock down that side soon

The middle of our defense has major issues.
