QB: Harris should be better with competition from Etling. QB will be better than this year

RB: best lsu has ever had and best in the country

Wr: a year older and better

Oline: depends on whether we lose pocic. I think they will be better than this year

Dline: will be beastly... All four starters are back with a great #2 unit that will continue to get better. Also the freshman

Linebackers: depends on beckwith. If he comes back and we stay healthy than the starters will be fine. Need to find depth. Weakness of defense but the other two groups can makeup

Dbs: lose white and mills but everyone else is back. Expect an improvement after another year in the new system

Every group should be better besides LB. olike is TBD

Which games will be tough?

Wisconsin: do not have the athletes we do not the experience. Win

Florida: Grier will not be there and they were awful without him... Win

Ole miss: they lose a ton and have to play in TS. Win

The two toss ups are bama/ark. Best one of them and we are in the sec title against likely Tennessee. Bama is losing 16-17 starters, their starting QB and henry. They have never lost that much and have a brutal schedule

LB will be weak even with beckwith and against power running teams, it's going to kill us

Ole miss will be just as good
They have tons of good WR, very deep DL and DBs and likely Kelly coming back.

Ole miss and Bama beat us IMO. Ark will be a tough game too

Ole miss has no rushing attack and our secondary will be better than their receivers. Their defense loses a ton

You seem to be a bit optimistic here. Only three games you consider tough?

Intangibles play a factor too. Wisconsin will be up there in Green Bay with surely more of their fans than ours. They should have beaten us in Houston, and then they lost to Bama this season. They will have a major chip on their shoulder and be out to finally beat a team from the SEC. Wouldn't surprise me to start 0-1.

Florida may not have Grier at QB but it won't be Treon either. Playing in Gainesville is a HUGE intangible in their favor. Could well be a loss.

Ole Miss is one that I have actually looked at as a win. No way is this one of the three toughest games.

Not sure how you list Ole Miss as a tough game but Alabama and Arky as toss ups. I don't care how much Alabama loses, five straight means I'm now gonna have to see Miles beat Saban to believe it.

Arkansas??? On the road??? This might be our toughest game of the season. Don't know about you but I have seen NOTHING in these last three seasons to give me any confidence in this game whatsoever. Sadly, it appears that Bielema owns Miles.

I would submit also that Auburn is no sure win. On the road and they can't possibly be as bad as they were when we played them this year.

Based on your predictions it appears you have us going 11-1 and to Atlanta. Wish I could be that optimistic but I don't see it happening.

Ole miss hasn't had a run game in at least 2 years
The top rusher for them had 61 yards and they whipped the shite out of us this season

Their D may lose some but it's been very good recently and don't forget who's running our offense.

The bad part of this is I'm hoping for 8 and 4. I think that's the best LSU can hope for. I'd hate to see the melt here if it's any worse.

Lack of depth at LB makes me think that the defense at nest stays about the same

I believe harris folds under pressure. I think the game is too big for him at this level. He probably would've thrived at a lower tier school.

Ole Miss loses 3 guys that will go in top half of first round and people think they will be just as good as last year? Treadwell was their offense! We beat Ole Miss next year.

Here's a non purple gold glasses eval:

quote]QB: Harris should be better with competition from Etling. QB will be better than this year
will be better still doesn't mean it will be good.
quote:

RB: best lsu has ever had and best in the country

maybe, but still got shut down by the better defenses we faced

quote:

Oline: depends on whether we lose pocic. I think they will be better than this year

see above

quote:

Wr: a year older and better

plenty of drops and couldn't get separation but there are a lot of five stars

quote:

Dline: will be beastly... All four starters are back with a great #2 unit that will continue to get better. Also the freshman [/quote
still going to have little DE's that easily get pushed around and average DT's
Linebackers: depends on beckwith. If he comes back and we stay healthy than the starters will be fine. Need to find depth. Weakness of defense but the other two groups can makeup

a disaster area
Dbs: lose white and mills but everyone else is back. Expect an improvement after another year in the new system [/quote
under performing so far

overall we have mid sec west level talent. NO where near Bama level. But plenty teams still do OK with this kind of talent. We will see.

Mid sec west level talent???

We are losing a senior class which was our worst recruiting class in years and adding a likely top 5 class. Only bama will have more talent but we will have more experience

Actually we lose 10 senior starters.
If you throw in early departures and I am including OJ Howard, that pushes it to 13.

LOL. I bet you were saying similar things this season.

Let me clue you in on Bama. Unless Saban is someone who will not be returning next season, they will be one of the best teams in the country. Unlike LSU, they do not suffer through multiple seasons of stagnation when they lose a few players.

this is correct. Just because a lot of starters are leaving doesn't mean there isn't a lot of talent behind them ready to step up.

And Bama recruits well and Saban knows how to get inexperienced guys to play well early.

The whole "they're losing a lot of starters" doesn't hold much water for teams with depth, great new recruits, and great coaches that know how to use them.

Most all above make some good pionts, but I have a question. Is it just me or does anyone else think the DBs look like a chinese fire drill since cooper left. Be easy just a question

Better. Yes.. Good.. Who knows...

quote:

RB: best lsu has ever had and best in the country

RBs will be the strongest unit.

quote:

Wr: a year older and better

Depends some on Dural, but the WRs should be pretty strong regardless.

quote:

Oline: depends on whether we lose pocic. I think they will be better than this year

I'm slightly worried about the Oline. Lots of movement. Its possibly that we lose 3 starters. Or just 1. In theory, it could be better, or much much worse.

quote:

Dline: will be beastly... All four starters are back with a great #2 unit that will continue to get better. Also the freshman

There is some reason for optimism here. Should be better at pressure, regardless of the sack count. I don't know about "beastly" but we'll be improved, again.

quote:

Linebackers: depends on beckwith. If he comes back and we stay healthy than the starters will be fine. Need to find depth. Weakness of defense but the other two groups can makeup

Doesn't matter how you cut it. Beckwith is gone. This could be the worst LB unit in the SEC.

quote:

Dbs: lose white and mills but everyone else is back. Expect an improvement after another year in the new system

On paper, I expect this unit to be down. There's the slight possibility that RR comes back into play which would be huge. Donte showed flashes and KTII will remain solid if not spectacular. Incoming freshman should make our depth pretty respectable.. If no RR, then slightly down.

We'll be challenged by every decent SEC team again. Anyone with a good running game (including Wisconsin if they find one) will give us all we can handle. ATM, without the P&G glasses on, I expect 4 losses.
