I have my concerns about where the program is headed under Les, but the one thing that gives me hope is that we've been in this situation before. Late in 2009 after the Ole Miss game everyone was calling for Les's head. We were coming off an 8-5 season, went on to finish 2009 9-4 and I think a lot of people were heading into 2010 thinking we'd see more mediocrity.

It wasn't always pretty, the offense struggled, there were more clock issues, but somehow LSU was able to have a terrific 2010 season that surprised a lot of people.

I know the personnel on the upcoming 2016 team is different (Kelvin Sheppard ain't coming through that door) but I think it's reasonable to believe that we can go 10-2 and play for a New Year's 6 bowl.

We're not going to win it all next year, but with a junior quarterback who's been here all 3 years (first since Jefferson in '10), with a new OC and QB coach, and knowing that Les has brought this team back from mediocrity before (with his own players), 2016 could be the year we are reminded that LSU is still a top 10 program. And then...who knows?

BAW GAWD MAN I hope you're right. I, along with everyone who watched the TAMU game, was surprised to see the defense play with fire, which had been missing for weeks. If the O-line can resolidify and the D plays like they did Saturday, I think 10-2 wouldn't be unreasonable. At least it would play into Miles' terrible schemes.

I totally agree with this. I definitely think we can have a 2010 kind of year. The only difference though is that 2009 was a much harder schedule and we lost every game by less than a TD. We've been blown out 3 times this year. Different vibe IMO, but still possible.

But what happened the following year? 2010 set the table for our best regular season ever.

Again LSU fans are happy with 10-2 while Bama fans are expecting another chance at the Nation Championship in 2016.

I'm happy with 10-2 as long as I know it's the start of something better. That was my whole point.

I agree 2010 wasn't pretty, but our losses were to future national champ Auburn (by a touchdown) and to a good Arkansas team that finished 10-2 also. And we destroyed TAMU in the Cotton Bowl.

I think a 10-2 season in 2016 with a bowl win is a nice comeback from where we have been the last few years.
