Would love another shot at Oklahoma

In that hypothetical region I can guarantee you Virginia would have their hands full with North Florida. The Ospreys get hot and they can out score anyone.
ETA: Cal would probably out physical Wichita State too

Might wanna add behind the USCe game that there's your quality road win

Might want to add "another". Vandy is definitely looked upon as a quality road victory. If the Tigers play as well against USCe as they did against Vandy that will be another win.

The way LSU is playing right now, if Simmons and Antonio continue to roll, I honestly think this might be one of the hottest teams heading into March and you know how much they love teams that are winning late.

5 of the last 8 games are against the top half of the conference. lsu has a fantastic opportunity to make a huge statement.

Jerry Palm now has us in as a #12 against USC in the South. Friday he had us as one of the first four out, now we have jumped to in with a bye. Going 1/2 of this week would be huge. If we go 2/2, not only are we safely in the tournament, but we have a solid lead on the Conference.

Dude, you are so obsessed with RPI numbers. Just stop that.
Vanderbilt has 1 home loss this year; to LSU. They have beat Florida, Texas A&M, and a 19-4 Stony Brook team at home, but couldn't beat LSU. It is a very good win.

quote:that is a subjective statement. the numbers are objective. they aren't top 50. you can't guarantee the committee would say right now it's a good win because you're not a mind reader. what we can say is that neither vandy nor bama are top 50. i'm talking numbers, not mind reading.
It is a very good win.
for some reason, a small group of people don't like to hear the raw numbers because it shows that lsu wasn't in a good position when i posted them. some people went so far as to criticize the way one of the sites was formatted because, you know, that definitely means the info is dumb.

LSU won both of its games last week. What more do you immediately want?
If we go 1-1 this week, it will be considered good. I'm sure you'll find some insignificant thing to bitch about though.
If we go 2-0, I advise you to call the suicide hotline.

RPI isn't the only objective statistic to judge an opponent...
KenPom (computer ranking) has Vandy at 35th.
BPI has Vandy at 33rd.
And before you tell me the committee doesn't use those stats, that is totally fine. They are basically measures that consider a lot more than archaic RPI formula that is just a glorified strength of schedule rating that takes nothing into account besides W's and L's.

I think your demeanor is so off-putting that it doesn't allow people to take your criticism's seriously. If you actually wanted to have a conversation on the subject, you should act like it; however, you tend to respond without listening to anyone else or with an open mind.
I think it's great having someone who is a narcissist like yourself to help ground fans, but you have to also have an open mind. You have RPI to hold onto, and that's fine and dandy, LSU's RPI isn't NCAAT worthy, but that is really the main spot where LSU's resume falls short. You try and make up silly factors that aren't really bad or you downplay significant positives.
Posted on 2/8/16 at 10:01 am to bfniii
BTW RPI doesn't even account for home/away. That is just stupid when it comes to a sport where home teams win over 60% of the time.
Posted on 2/8/16 at 10:01 am to SouthOfSouth
Hes probably gonna respond with I've only said facts this entire time and something about Mississippi state missing the tourney with 30 wins or something.

Palm says he's considering us an auto-bid right now, so I guess we still have work to do in his eyes as an at-large:
He's always been a little more faithful to the RPI than Lunardi it seems, and even last year he was lower on us than the committee ended up being. Think he had us heading to the play-in round in his final projection, and of course we ended up two or three seed lines above that.
quote:
"This bracket also has an unusual feature for a bracket projection - a bid stealer. LSU is in the bracket as the leader of the SEC, but the Tigers have a borderline at-large profile at best. Other than a home win over Kentucky, there wouldn't be anything to talk about. But, LSU has a one-game lead in the conference race so there they are."

That makes sense. He doesn't seem to be giving any consideration to losses without Hornsby and Victor. With Ben Simmons being in the mix, the Committee will give some consideration to when we had our full slate of players and our record in the last 10 games.
ETA: If LSU wins the SEC tournament, we will not be a "bid stealer."

I think we just all just ignore bfniii. Let's stop responding/addressing/asking with anything regarding him. That way he will just go away, and the adults can talk.

I agree with this, it'd be nearly impossible mathematically speaking to earn the auto bid without having also earned our way in as an at-large, just due to the amount of extra quality wins we'd have amassed during that run.
Would love to win the tournament this year but it shouldn't be necessary. If we take can care of business this week we should be in very good shape.
