welter had a poor year. others didn't play well. welter was the worst performer out of the guys who started every game.

So you're saying Welter was the worst guy that kept his job, excluding the guys that lost their job for not performing well?

Take it for what it's worth, but Debo's problem is not with weight or athleticism. It's learning the playbook.

Played against him, I find this hard to believe since the man went to Jesuit.

Barring injury, Welter will be starting at Mike. Get used to it and get behind the kid
Here's hoping he put on a few pounds. His speed is still suspect but at least if he bulks a bit, he can be more effective at engaging blockers.

Last year, he often presented next to no obstacle to blockers leaving them to move him down the field or block off of him and into another guy.

The least he could do is clear the way for the other guys.

That said. He did get better as the season progressed. It was from awful to just fairly bad, but it was progress.

I think and hope he has a good year , im pulling for him for sure...

but the fact is the mlb position fell off based on production...

welter last season 25 solo and 55 asst. tackles...

minter the year before 55 solo and 80 asst. tackles...

I hope he puts up the type of numbers that minter did in 2012 and he makes some of these fans eat a little crow...

You also have to look at those in front of Minter vs Welter

Minter had Mingo, Montgomery, Logan, and Downs

Welter had four first time starters, including subpar production at the tackles.

The staff has said welter has improved a lot and it looking really good. I fully expect for him to be an asset on D

Interesting point Shea made today was that if Beckwith is the future in the middle, Clifton Garretts quickest way on the field may be on the outside
