That's because Miles walked into a cadillac as far as $ and state recruiting. That plus add in some of the worst fans in college football and you have job security.

(leaving the stands empty in the secod half...defending miles year after year after year with all of his yearly blunders costing us ship after ship, because he seems like a guy to have a bbq and drink beer with, he's funny, etc)

So did everyone else Im referring to. Do u need a list, if so should we stop at 10 or go to 50. You can start with LSU and Cholly Mac in what 79 or so.

Unappreciative fans like you want great coaches ran off and then suffer thru 5-6 win seasons until another arrives, sometimes thats a decade or 2.

'(leaving the stands empty in the secod half"

This is a new one to blame Les for. Maybe some of you should spend just a little bit of time looking for what Les does right.

" blunders costing us ship after ship,"

We're talking about Miles in this discussion not Saban. Help me out with the blunder Miles made that cost LSU a Championship?

PS
I do remember Pete Carrol going for it on 4th down against Texas with his Heisman RB on the bench. Wonder whatever happened to that guy?
Maybe he quit for the NFL and left USC with sanctions that just now ended.

As far as 'cadillac for recruiting' - Curley Hallman says hi...
Stovall, Dinardo, Archer, et al.....

As far as 'yearly blunders'

2009 at Ole Miss. That was "AAAALLLLLLL" on Jordan Jefferson. Instead of looking at the sideline with the line judge winding the clock to start, he should have just snapped it and threw it in the end zone.

2009 Penn State. The ref calls a penalty on our OLinemen pulling the Penn State LB refusing to move as the clock is running down.

2010 Tennessee - Uh. We won.

2011 BCSNCG - Gameplan for Bama. I'll give you that one.

2012 Bama. Yeah, couple of questionable decisions. But if Alleman makes the FG, it's 20-14, more time runs off, we kickoff and probably hold them.

Jerks!! Les should be ranked no lower than top 10, but that's ok. I realize this year we've got a lot of young talent and all, but I pray we have a great season. Then let's see if CLM gets any more love. I doubt it!

Actually, I think Jimbo is a better coach than Saban, but for now I'll defer to the numbers and agree with him at #1.

Miles at #17 is a joke. And someone PLEASE tell me WTF is the deal with all of the love for Stoops? Aside from being a whiny bag of dicks he's a pretty decent coach, but not top 5.

I'm not a fan of the guy personally, but he has been wildly successful at every stop, even at schools like Bowling Green and Utah. He is 128-25 as a head coach and has a 7-2 bowl record. Saban is 165-57 and is only 8-7 in bowl games.
He took the Utes to an undefeated season and a BCS Bowl win. The guy just wins at all levels regardless of the talent that he has available. When he has great talent, like at Florida, he wins championships. Since going to Ohio State, he has picked up right where he left off and has already given them an undefeated season. How many undefeated seasons does Saban have?

With Saban, again, it's hard to argue with 4 NCs, but the same argument that people make for sliding Miles down the list can also be applied to Saban. He does get outcoached at times. The man has benefitted from comparatively favorable SEC scheduling while at Bama. I wish that we had more head to head results for Meyer vs Saban, but Bama never plays Florida except for the occasional SEC Championship game, and they split those two meetings. And let's not forget that failed attempt in the NFL.

Richt is a nice guy and a good coach, but with the talent that he has available to him at Georgia, he should have more skins on the wall, but doesn't.

The Head Ball Coach...you could make an argument for him. He has done a great job at USCe where it's tougher to recruit and he dominated at Florida. You can't make everyone #1, though.

Then there's Les. I love the guy. He's like the Yogi Berra of college football. Most of all he is a GOOD guy. He is loyal to his players and assistants and they to him, but he will make a move when it needs to be made. He makes good hires. He is a great recruiter. His game day goofs are well documented and can't be ignored, but he still makes my top 5. The guy faces crazy schedules every year and still produces double-digit wins consistently.

How does Gus get a higher ranking than Miles?

If for no other reason, Miles has been a consistent winner...Gus, one hit wonder?

let's see how it plays out

To be fair, A&M made a lot of noise in year 1 and Missouri made a lot of noise last year in the SEC. These are 2 teams that didn't compete for Big 12 titles. Just saying.

How do u excuse him for the complete mess he left behind at Florida? Do u have any idea how many issues and arrests he covered up? As a football coach that preaches never quit play it out to the bitter end each and every day and then quits himself, the first time he faces adversity as a coach. Thats the guy, u want coaching your team in the SEC or you list as #1 at his profession?
When the realization that his offensive system wasnt going to be enough to roll these SEC teams anymore with or without Tebow, he was done, rolled over easy. He was going to have to battle each and every day against the best on game day and the recruiting trail and couldnt hack it. He just wasnt cut out for this type of grind and pressure to win. When his leader and Heisman player left, along with all that talent Ron Zook left for him he knew he was about to be exposed. Meyer kept up the recruiting, I'll give him that. But talk about being set up to win. A locker room full of NFL talent and hungry to win is what Meyer walked into. And some talk about how easy Miles had it following a legend and a bunch of players who were hurt after Nick lied to them for months.
Youve got to be able to win consistently in a very competitive conference to be considered a Top 10 coach and u cant quit, ever. What a hypocrite.

Not many can come into the SEC and handle the grind, especially without a Heisman winner at QB, for more than 5-6 years, he was no different. It took SEC defensive coordinators that long to figure it out. When they did, he was done. Unlike Spurrier who gritted it out and had to change offensive philosophies at South Carolina, not talent rich Florida or Ohio State.
Winning at Ohio State will be much easier than winning in the SEC, that doesnt make him the better coach. He is a perfect fit for easy Ohio State, no doubt, and will as many games as anyone else moving forward. He was in a different class at BG and Utah and could do well there again.

But the SEC was too much for Urban, plain and simple. The inability to control the locker room and quitting puts Richt ahead of Meyer, altho that one is close. Richt does need to win more titles and should have by now, but he's at least tough minded enough to get up every morning and do his best.

I unlike u was not glad to see Urban leave. I wanted him to bury that program that we play each yr and his legacy. He should thank Muschamp over and over again for not coming public with the disaster he left him at Fla.

You asked, I answered. Never said that I liked Meyer and didn't like the way he left Florida, although as a fan of the only West team that plays them every year, I was happy to see him go. That says a lot right there.

As for who I would want coaching our team, I'm happy with who we have. Someone mentioned that Les is good in large part because of his assistants. IMHO, hiring and keeping great assistants is a huge part of being a good head coach. How many guys has Saban run off over the years? Surrounding yourself with good people and keeping them is a talent in and of itself.

i'm pretty willing to bet a beer on the fact if you took the VS W-L records (as in miles vs the other coaches head to head) that Miles is top 3.
