Calm down. No one deserved it over RGIII last season.

I wasn't calm? OK

But, I didn't say he should win over RGIII did I? Just said that he got ripped off in the voting overall.

It's AJ's to lose and I think its obvious to most rational people.

I mean, he is a fricking gunslinger. Maybe the best release in college football in the last ten years.

Nice effort! I'm sure some will bite.

I just can't see Mett making a real run at it this year. I don't think his leash will be long enough. We might win a lot of games, but he's just not going to have the stats to be in real contention. We emphasize the run too much for that.

If things go right for him the sky is the limit.

I like your enthusiasm.....

I agree with all this. Plus I also think it is a silly over-rated award. It doesn't go to the best player. It goes to the most popular QB or RB. Also think of it this way. Bama could be the greatest program of all time, and just got their first Heisman winner couple years ago

I think that ZM will have as good a chance as anybody like the last couple of winners that come out of no where.

The beauty of this is that the team goal will liekly get it for him. If LSU wins a NC and is 14-0 he will get a lot of credit for that. So it the team achieves Mett is in the hunt. If he throws for big numbers along the way and or has a couple of big meaningful games in a NC season he is it.

ZM is getting so much preseason hype from the sportswriters he does not have to worry about getting noticed because he already is on the unofficial "watch list"

Miles has stated numerous times that they are going to open it up this year. If he backs out on that he will pay a big price in recruiting. After the QB debacle last year CLM and the staff realized that they have to make the program more attractive to big recruits if they expect to get any national rated QB's or WR's.

Contrary to popular belief CLM threw it all over the place in his first couple of yrs at OkSt.

It's not like we're going to line up 5 wide in the shotgun. "Open it up" is a relative term. We're not an Air Raid team, and with our personnel we shouldn't pretend to be.

We threw the ball on average 19.9 times per game last year; I can't see that mark going up significantly. I could see a slight climb to about 22 attempts per game, though. I also think "open it up" could be indicative of the types of throws we try to make. With our running game as strong as it is, we should be able to take a few more shots downfield, especially off of play action. That absolutely qualifies as opening it up in my estimation.

As for the big price in recruiting, have you ventured over to the recruiting board? We've landed a ton of outstanding verbal commitments for 2013 and are nearing a full class. We've even got kids from 2014 giving commitments. Kids who come to LSU don't come to LSU because they want to run the spread or whatever offense (or defense, for that matter) is currently fashionable. They come to LSU because they want to WIN.
