This team is more like 2007 than 2011, imo.

Agree 2011 is one of the best ever. But we didn't run out of gas. We had the misfortune of playing in the same division with another of the best teams ever, that we were forced to play TWICE.

That Bama defense may have been the best of all time. The fact that our defense kept their offense out of the end zone for 7 quarters and an overtime was an incredible accomplishment.

The win in The Game of the Century, in Tuscaloosa, on CBS in primetime after two weeks of Super Bowl like buildup should have gone down as one of the greatest wins in one of the greatest games ever.

What is so annoying, is all the talk about Baylor and TCU and the Big 12 offenses this year. Where was that in 2011 with Oklahoma State??? Missing out on a chance to see an all time SEC defense against that air raid Big 12 offense was the biggest disappointment for the country with that sham of a Rematch.

For us, well, the disappointment was even worse.

It's funny because the majority of LSU fans in 2011 said 2007 would crush 2011's team.

In 2007, fans said 2003 would own 2007's team.

I'm gonna be the first to say it..

2015 is going to f*cking destroy 2019's team.

2015 not even close to 2011

2011 defense was the best LSU defense in history, and before you say 2003 we lost to UF in 2003.

There was absolutely nothing in 2011 that worried me. I mean, sure, I worried we would have a bad game with too many interceptions or an untimely injury to a key player but I was not worried each and every game about a specific part of our team. This year I have to hold my breath every time STs is on the field. Unfortunately in 2011 my fear of a really bad game came true in the one that mattered and Miles's stubborn coaching came into play but this year we have genuine areas that cause concern and need work. We can still win out but I think it will take improvement every week and maybe a little luck at key times.

It was great, but I think LSUs defense was better. More tested and more versatile. LSU defense proved capable of stopping the best spread offenses as well as the power offenses. Bama defense featured huge front 7 and was designed to stop LSU type power offenses but was never tested against the likes of Oregon or WV. Bama finished with better stats Bc it's schedule was vastly inferior.

I've always wanted to see that huge Bama defense play a wide open offense that'd make those giant LBs run sideline to sideline. I guarantee Oregon and OK St would've scored on them.

2011 LSU would wreck Bama and cruise to a NC this year.

I was more confident in 2011 but only because it was a different time.
Bama has flucked our heads up.
Now we feel like we're second best no matter what..

This team is almost as good as 2011.
We average almost 3 yards more per rush.
We only allow about .7 yards more per (opponent) rush.
We only average about .3 yards less per game in the passing attack (and I think we all know that's by choice).
We're +10 on sacks (2011 was +20 for the year) so that's about even.
Turnover margin is not near as good as 2011, but we've only turned it over twice, compared to their 10 times.

Overall.. The defense isn't nearly as elite as the 2011 squad, but the offense is 3 times better.

I'm not "confident" that this team will run the table, but I know that they can.

2011 team had so much swag and they let everyone know it. Defense an special teams were tremendously better

2011 played a much tougher schedule though which skews the stats. 2015 offense might be a little better but the defense and ST were drastically better in 2011.

Easy cowboy. 2011 was a really good team. But the best teams in CFB history don't get shutout in their bowl game, let alone completely dominated. Bama had 21 first downs. We had 5. Bama had 384 yds. We had LESS THAN 100 YARDS. And Oregon vastly outgained us that year. We won the game because we won the turnover battle 3-0. Go back and check the SEC cship game box score, where Georgia stomped all over us until they turned it over twice and HB7 went intergalactic on them with return yardage.

The 2011 team was resilient and had playmakers on D. Also had NFL talent at RB and OL. But overall the O that year was anemic. It was not one of the best teams in CFB history.

The 2011 team lost 21-0 in the biggest game of the year. That team could not even cross midfield on offense until late in the 4th quarter. That is pathetic no matter how you slice it.

Stop acting like the 2011 team was the greatest football team ever. Because they were not. That team's legacy was permanently sealed forever when the game ended 21-0.

6 games in...were you more confident in LSU running the table in 2011 or this season?

That 2011 team had the usual question mark at QB which has plagued Miles lead squads, but this one still has quite a few question marks including the QB position, special teams and across the defense based on the match up.

Had Jordan Jefferson never gotten his hands on those nudes of Miles, we would have been fine in the BCSNC game.

When I think of the 2011 team, I think of the team that scored 39.25ppg under Jarrett Lee against teams like Oregon, West Virginia, and Florida, not the team that got shut out under this whiny baby:

In 2011 all we needed was the defense to show up. The defense generated many turnovers and even scored quite a bit. This team, if they do it, is closer to the 2013 Auburn team with some lucky bounces. If Domimgue continued to bobble that snap or Miss State makes the FG we're a 4-2 team right now

Hell no. That 2011 team was special and that was known from early on

no it wasnt. Hindsight is so 20/20 with people about the 2011 season. Before and during the season, that team was too young and had too hard of schedule to do well that year. One the bama hurdle was jumped then the bandwagon was filled up.

Sure it was. The best teams in CFB history can't just go undefeated in perpetuity. The regular season and SEC title game are about as dominant as it's possible to be. On top of absolutely wrecking the SEC (including a win AT the 2nd best team), the 2011 squad beat 2 winners of other Power 5 conferences - badly.

The Tennessee game at Neyland still ranks for me as the #1 most demoralizing result forced on another opponent in LSU history. The 2nd half of that game must still haunt those poor Vols.
