I wonder why that happened? Was it because in the beginning those guys hadn't ever had the taste of success? We also didn't have a tremendous amount of talent then. In Brady's latter years, we had won the SEC, reached the final 4 and had a few McDonalds All Americans sprinkled in with a couple high profile recruits.

I was talking about this just this morning. Brady got more out of his teams those several years than anybody in the country could have. Those dudes played their asses off.

2001 was probbly Brady's best coaching job, just as 2010 may go down as Trent Johnson's best job. Both coaches kept their teams together during adversity, both teams played hard to the end and won their final home game. The 2001 team upset NCAA bound Georgia in the SEC tourney. I beleieve the same thing will happpen to Tennesse on Thursday.

And the next year they had practically nobody (way to go, Kwame ) and snuck into the NIT. I thought that was a good coaching year on his part, too.

The next two years (9-7 + 8-8 in the SEC) were a little stale; I thought LSU should have been better.

Draconian sanctions which limited recruiting from 1999 through 2001 impacted the program through at least 2003. Kedrick Brown electing to declare from the draft without playing for LSU was also devestating.

Actually in 2002 they were 6-10 in the SEC, but did beat Iowa in the NIT before losing to Ball State.

The 2003 team roared down the stretch after inserting Xavier Whipple into the lineup and moving Torris Bright to shooting guard.

Hard to say. All Brady's players look alike.

I think that team played a number of team close, but would run out of gas down the stretch. Carter was about all they had. Darn good player.

Had Lamont Roland played, we'd have won at least a handful more games. Hell, even Brad Bridgewater would have helped.

Agreed. Without the injuries that team wins several more games. Better than this years team IMO.

Stud. Too bad he lasted barely a semester.
