I miss the good ol' days when:

1) Tulane was good (I think they had beaten Florida State in 1983 or 1984, and had kicked LSU's arse like 3 out of 4 years- 1979-82)
2) We actually PLAYED Tulane
3) We had a real rival in football that wasnt someone else's rival

Absolutely.

I'm very cautiously optimistic about Tulane's new leadership after 15 years of athletic horror.

Yeah, we tied UF, they won the Conference but were on probation and we got the Sugar Bowl bid. I remember at the Sugar Bowl, a UF fan told me "the second best SEC team is here," to which I replied, "You didn't beat us."
Crappy Sugar Bowl loss to Nebraska, though.

Yeah I remember that game was like 21-21 I think opener @ UF; unfortunate to be at both the Nebraska S Bowls 85 & 87, both total debacles! Yuk

Lost to Miss State 16-14 and ND 30-22 I think. Good season but dominated by Nebraska in the Sugar.

Galen Hall at UF before they went on probation and hired away Arnsparger, then Spurrier.

Funny we remember that as a good season and we finished 8-3-1. Miles almost got fired for 9-3

I think that was Tookie Spann who got beat on that TD throw. RIP Tookie, one of the greatest athletes to come out of New Orleans

Arnsparger never coached UF.

I'm betting he knows that. It is factually correct that UF hired Arnsparger away.

LSU fans actually stayed till end of games back then. Today, Stadium would have been empty.
