The Wide Bodies on the o-line never get the love! They could be the most dynamic leader, most inspirational, most deserving and still get stuck with those ugly interior #s. 51 or 67 or 73 have nowhere near the swagger as 18.

The NCAA is a bunch of FATTIST Bastards!

Let the Big 'Uns be eligible for 18!

Just sayin'

Relax Frances. Just an idle thought and wanted to chat a little on the board to kill time. Didn't think we needed another ULL has smaller penises thread.

Obviously by the number of down votes my attempt at humor and light hearted chatter was misplaced on a board for SERIOUS TIGER FANS ONLY.

Have an up vote.

People are bent out of shape when someone says that numbers other than 18 should be important. 18 is not sacred people.

I've seen worse threads. Much, much worse.

I'll allow it.

They are, you can wear any number in college football regardless of position, come on duuude. Not like the NFL with its strict rules.

Nope DUUUUUDE.

For more info, the NCAA rulebook (2009-10 edition) can be found at: LINK /...

I will apologize IF the NCAA has changed the numbering rule in any of the editions after the 2009-10 edition. However, everything I could Google as far as official rules books you have to pay for. Seeing how I would like to concentrate my financial holdings on the libations and gratuity for this evening I'll say Trust Me

Just a recommendation, not a rule.

Also, your link does not work.

Further, I like your sarcasm and was responding to it with my own, in addition to some information. I did not down vote you like many others.

Finally, Devin Gardner wore #98 as a quarterback, a high profile offensive player not following those rules. Please explain why he was allowed to wear such a number if it was a direct rule violation.

Thanks, Duuude

This is the best I can do right now:

quote:

The NCAA rulebook defines eligible receivers for college football in Rule 7, Section 3, Article 3.[1] The determining factors are the player's position on the field at the snap and their jersey number. Specifically, any players on offense wearing numbers between 50 and 79 are always ineligible. All defensive players are eligible receivers and offensive players who are not wearing an ineligible number are eligible receivers if they meet one of the following three criteria:
Player is at either end of the group of players on the line of scrimmage (usually the wide receivers and tight end)
Player is lined up at least one yard behind the line of scrimmage (running backs, fullbacks, etc.)
Player is positioned to receive a hand-to-hand snap from the center (almost always the quarterback)

So your interior linemen are rarely eligible receivers but your QB is often trotted out or into the slot on "wildcat" formations. Now stop. This is getting WAY more serious than I thought it would. Just shootin' the shite my fellow Tiger.

I hear you sir. I'm all flummoxed because I don't know whether to cancel a Snapper trip and watch the Tigers or hope I can find them on the radio on the boat. Wouldn't be a damn issue without the stupid Fed regs this year. Season is too short for recreational fishermen.
