LSU was the SEC winner in both it's MNCBCS appearances.
Alabama comes to this game with less accomplishments than LSU's 2 loss National Champ team. Which was 5-0 against the final top 15 teams..

In 2003, nobody disputed LSU being the #2 team in the country. The argument was over whether or not Oklahoma (red team) or USC (red team) should be the other team in.
And, as mentioned, LSU won the SEC both years.
