I think Johnson may have been. Jones was an obvious buddy hire, Brown had been in the shadows for about 13 years and after Johnson we wanted to bring back that old feeling so we hired his lacky. Jones was Browns favorite assistant and was his lead recruiter during the bad years at the end of Browns run. I'm sure Brown convinced Collis to get on board with the hire and promised our admin that Jones could bring the success Brown had and the excitement of bringing in superstar caliber players. Needless to say it's been an epic failure.

I hope Collis and Dale have minimal to zero involvement in the selection of the next LSU head basketball coach.

If they truly want to see a positive change in the program, they should stay silent.

I hope so too. I was told by an assistant coach from an in state college this summer that Collis and Jones had a little falling out. This guy usually is in the know but this was during the summer and they may have patched things up by now. I saw Dale was quoted as saying that he believes Jones should get at least 2 more years to fix thing but that's not a surprise. Hopefully Jones has lost Collis's support but I agree neither one of those guys need input on the next hire.

When Trent left you had both he and Brady saying "Johnny Jones is the only man for this job." Now that he's proven that he's not, you need to bring in the demolition ball and go completely outside the box. Trouble is, Joe Alleva.

There is a very small part of me that actually hopes he gets retained just to see and be a part of the mass chaos that ensues.

lsucoonass

no he doesnt.

You want him to be fired. The program will be better if he is.

but he does not need to be. the word does not mean what you think it does.
My former LC gf uses the word wrong just like you and many other posters do.

You use the word need in application to someone or something that YOU want to be changed. the thing or person does NOT need it to happen.

I have lived northeast, midwest, south and west. its a usage local to south Louisiana.
A cousin usage is MIGHT COULD.
He might could do X.

I only heard that MIGHT COULD in east Tex and SW La.

Stick to talking about basketball, not semantics and arguing about whether he "should" or "needs" to be fired. For the sake of the program's success, he needs to be fired.

And no one gives a damn about your trashy LC ex-girlfriend.

LSU basketball NEEDS to separate itself from Johnny.

I think it should. But the program NEEDS a new coach and entirely new direction.

I'm just fricking depressed at all this shite.

LSU's administration is just a pile of shite.

I love March Madness. I remember getting out of class, going to a bar and watch the games.

And it kills me LSU is hardly there.

And yes, I know it literally doesn't kill me, but it upsets me greatly.

Right!! Only a mediocre coach in a mediocre basketball conference could bring LSU basketball back.

Alleva fricked up the Jones hire just liked he fricked up the football search! There is no doubt about that fact. The process is fricked and Alleva is in charge of that failed process.

Alleva still being here is sad and the fact he will make our next hire is even sadder.

I don't want another guy with a mediocre record while playing in a mediocre conference. I would rather go with a young assistant who is known for his recruiting.

To be fair, recruiting was supposed to be his strong suit. I just want a good basketball coach. There are tons of very good midmajor coaches. Im tired of watching poorly coached teams at LSU.

Collis also had a falling out with Trent fairly quickly.

Here's my take..Collis is very opinionated and strong willed and because his sons were able to help Brady bring some talent in here he was granted some access and liked that.

Well, his sons have been gone a while and he really is no help in recruiting anymore, but still has this feeling of entitlement to weigh in the program and wield his influence. And the last two coaches probably did not appreciate that an maybe told him as much.

LSU needs to stonewall Collis from any access to the program. If he wants to see the games then buy a ticket like anyone else. His word should carry as much weight as mine, yours, or Ben Voogd's
