Your point still makes no sense. What if we had beaten Bama and Florida but lost to Ole Miss and Auburn? Would our season be successful then? By your logic it should be because we won the big games

not BIG games, games you HAVE to win.
Going into the season we were heavily favored to beat both Ole Miss and Auburn, you don't circle those games at the beginning of the season.

We were 2-2 against top tier opponents and obviously could have been 4-0. Although, IMO A&M win was regarded much like the Ole Miss win at the time (thank God it's over), it was a great win. South Carolina game was playing for our seaosn aginst the then No. 3 team with Lattimore.

We were a 90 second drive away from the SEC and maybe national championship game and exercsising a lot of demons. Now we're playing in a the 5th place bowl and have another year to stew on what could have been.

.....it is like bitching about the "quality" of the BJ. We rebuilt the O-line and had a first year starter. They finally started to gel in the Bama game. Had down week with Ole Miss--but SR festivities seem to be a disruption (wasn't the 2007 loss SR day) and we beat ARKY, which despite their record still had the same talent that had them a preseason contender. Every week is different--play for victory.

and AWAAYYY we go!

shite, we have no idea who will declare early, what injuries will come up, suspensions, transfers, coaching changes that may occur, etc.

We will compete for the West and the SEC. That is good enough for me. I am as aggravated as any with the play of the team, but I refuse to argue with the success at the end of the day.

Given the retarded expectation of a national title this year, and the talk already of next year with a depleted D, people have set themselves up to define EVERY game as a HAVE to win game.

Some fans have convinced themselves that our talent is better than everyone, so it must be coaching. Our talent is very good, but it is not alot different than any other top teir program. We just happen to share a conference with a bunch of em..

We have played 4 teams currently ranked in the BCS top 10.

Lets just dismiss the significance of the 2 games we won against Top 10 teams and emphasize the 2 that we lost

why do people bitch about these games?

Auburn we have won at how many times now since 2000? I think twice, 2008 and 2012. We lost in Saban's first year in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2010. If Mett doesn't fumble, that game isn't as close as it is.

Ole Miss. Again, we have not beaten them at home by more than 7 since 95. We have had better teams and they have had worse.

Arkansas. We were 2-3 against them the last 5 years. This is always a tough game. I would like to see the game moved to Saturday. Not sure that will make much of a difference. Just my $.02.

LSU played 4 top 15 teams. We were 2-2. We beat USCe and at A&M.

Alabama played 2 top 10 teams LSU and A&M, they are 1-1

UGA played 2 top 10 teams Florida and USCe, they are 1-1

USCe played 4 top 15 teams: They were 2-2, they beat UGA and Clemson, lost to UF and LSU (both on the road in back to back weeks BTW)

A&M played 3 top 10 teams they beat Alabama and lost to Florida and LSU.

Florida played 5 top 15 teams, they are 4-1.

You might notice the 2 teams that played the fewest ranked teams are the 2 playing for the SEC title and a trip to the BCS CG.

This was a 10-2/9-3 team from the get go. The administration and staff never expected more than that after the loss of several key starters.

It can be argued that they overachieved, considering the off-field and injury issues.

But, all that being said, LSU was 1 first down from the SECCG.

Guy's we lost the Bama game because of our Defense cord. the Chief! With 2 minutes left & u go to a prevent defense, u do not give the receivers an 8 to 10 yrd. cushion! All he has to do is catch the ball & step out of bounds & stop the clock. The object in this Defense is to run the clock out & keep every one in front of u. Lsu has not recovered since the bama loss, & it is a ashamed, as we are loaded with talent! The last 3 games looked like we didn't want to be there. LOST SWAGGER!!! I hope we regain our pride & not get embarrassed in the bowl game.

Glad you pointed this out. Not that it matters, because you have to play the hand you're dealt. That being said, its a perfect illustration of why scheduling in the SEC needs to be revisited.

I see one big problem between the fans. Some throw the word "great" around waaaaay too much. Undefeated national champion is great, ok? 10-2 is "good" and considering the talent we are supposed to have I would say it could be considered ok. I don't want to hear about losing players and shite bc everybody goes through that. Good teams deal and keep going.

"why do people bitch about these games?"

I am very pleased with the Tigers' season, and I really don't give a rip about which "place" bowl we get because there is a lot of fluff in how bowl teams are selected. However, it is perfectly easy to see why LSU fans are unhappy about how the team played against Ole Miss, Arky, and Auburn. Because, to varying degrees, the team played poorly! You don't have to be a "nega-Tiger" to see that or to hope the team can play more consistently or finish games better.

As has been discussed on here before, this season is a lot like the 2006 season. As in 2006, the team went 2-2 in the four marquee games on the schedule and with just a little better play or luck in one game, could have been playing for it all. One difference, though, is that the 2006 team seldom let down (maybe once?) against an inferior opponent. This team did it regularly but still prevailed.

good so far.

but what bothered me about this year is there were 2 games you HAD to win and we didn't.

wrong....there were 12 "games we had to win" and we won 10 of them. are you totally ignoring the fact that we lost 8 starters and 15 contributors from the end of spring practice practice and still won 10 of 12?

. Outside of that we went to the final whistle with Auburn, Ole Miss and Arkansas,

like that never happened before?

My point is that right now we have a divided fan base. Half are not happy with the season and half say we're spoiled and should be happy with 10-2.

the people who are not happy will never be happy. it really is that simple because it's part of their dna. the people who say some of us are spoiled are spot on because some of us are spoiled rotten. nobody is happy with losing to bama and florida, period. we caught florida peaking, on their turf and we were in position to win and dropped the ball. we had bama on the ropes but we didn't execute a 1yd dive. bottom line, we just didn't get it done. too bad...so sad. grown men get past it and move on.

quote:

We're at a level where 10-2 is almost expected,

you do realise we play in the SEC, don't cha?

quote:

winning the big games is what's important and this year we didn't do that.

so you're saying the other games aren't important? that is how teams finish 8-5. considering the crap that went down, we had a very good year. JMO.

And this statement of FACTS above is why millions of potential fans tune out CFB. It is literally a farce now. Nothing but a beaty pageant of the "brand" teams.

UF should be playing for a title with that resume. Period. End of story.

But no. Once again, a team with a weak schedule will make it to the title game.

Check that. TWO teams with weak schedules will be playing in the BCSNCG. The SEC rep, either Bama or UGA, got to the "semifinal" game by playing weak schedules as well.

What a joke.

Precisely. And the team went 2-2. Every game was competitive and one of the losses was in the waning seconds of the game. Would I have preferred to go 4-0? Obviously. But if we're talking State of the Program, that is clearly a competitive program with the very best teams in the country, which is really all you can ask. To be in the mix every year for the title. Sometimes you get the breaks, sometimes you don't. This year, we didn't.

This team was ravaged by injury and suspensions yet still gutted out a 10-win season and a top 10 ranking. Most teams that rebuild their o-line on the fly, lose their best player (and returning Heisman finalist), and lose their TWO best offensive players (Blue and Faulk) spiral to 500 seasons. The fact this team went 10-2 with all of the adveristy is a positive for the program, not a negative.

Yes, winning a title is better. But this program is clearly healthy. We're one bad defensive sequence from playing in the SECCG and then the BCSCG. From the 10,000 foot view, the program is doing outstanding.

I would agree, but as I said, we don't normally win these games and we did. Name me one team outside of Bama that has dominated opponents the last two years? None. Ohio State should have lost a few, ND should have lost a few, Oregon, K State, Oklahoma, etc.

"Name me one team outside of Bama that has dominated opponents the last two years?"

I really wasn't comparing LSU to anyone, just pointing out that the team played down to the competition pretty often. That is certainly something to improve on. I think LSU has the talent to cut down on how often that happens and suspect we will see improvement in this regard depending on who comes back. The present is bright and the future may be even brighter.

You're right, 10-2 is not acceptable for a team that was laden with senior defensive players and had a 5th year starter QB.
