When was the last time a team was ranked #1 all season, and won the CWS?

Per the preseason magazine with the Tigers on the cover, it was pre-2000.

It’s never been done.
And Only twice ever a team has started 1 and ended 1 after regular season ended

LSU was #3 seed in 2009 when they won it all. I imagine you’d have to go back to the 70s when some schools dominated the sport to find a team that went wire to wire #1.

Apparently Miami 1999 was the last time the #1 seed even won the championship.

Nah, pretty sure Texas went wire to wire or close to it until we beat them in Omaha

Miami in 1999 would be my best guess considering they were the last 1 seed to win the CWS

Cal Fullerton in 1995 did it

already had it pulled up from researching

Miami in ‘99 didn’t get ranked #1 in polls until this week Apr-19-99. That was the first time that season they were given a #1 ranking.

Yea and Cal State Fullerton was the #1 seed in the Baton Rouge Regional, and won that regional.

LSU, the #2 seed in their own regional, had a really bad season in 1995. They were eliminated by Rice before ever getting a chance to play Fullerton State

That was the team that was sent to Baton Rouge as the #1 seed. They were so much better than us that year. Then ULM nearly beat beat them in game 1.

Recap of their season doesn’t mention being preseason #1: LINK

Yeah, but Ole Miss did, right? They didn’t go wire-to-wire, but they started and finished #1.

I could've sworn we were preseason #1 in 2009.

We didn't go wire-to-wire after losing the Illinois series and were the #3 national seed in the end, but I thought we were preseason #1.

We were preseason #1 in 2009 when we won it all. We were also ranked #1 by several different rankings towards the last few weeks.

So I am tired of hearing how #1 can't win it all when we did. And whoever is arguing #1 overall seed then okay, but this discussion is about being ranked #1 in the polls... which we have won it all when we were.

Pretty sure they never gave up the top spot. That team was loaded and played here in ‘95 regional. I remember they just steamrolled through the season and it was none they were gonna be the team to beat from the get go

They came here as a 1 seed in the old format. Only ulm gave them a game in game one and then they blew through the field

That too, give me odds before superstition..id much rather have the easiest on paper path than not. Although I can at least see the validity in that agreement being true.
