WRs

This is my first post here as I have just joined the site. I was wondering how y'all think we stand at wide receiver this year? We have some highly recruited guys and some not as much but we certainly have a lot to chose from. If Brennan comes in and lights it up or Etling finds some consistency and keeps the job, we are still going to have to throw to beat Bama or anyone else who decides to take Guice out of the game. I'm not sure Craig was getting the most out of the position to help the QB to start with. Opinions?

We need Marshall and Jason. Already have Jones.

State is loaded with legit Power 5 WRs for 2018. Terrace Marshall, Devonta Jason, Kenan Jones-LSU Commit, Lawrence Keys III, Jaray Jenkins, Jammal Houston, Jamarr Chase, Slade Bolden, and Yo'Heinz Taylor all have Power 5 offers. That's just in Louisiana, not to mention the other from surrounding states that LSU will surely go after. 2018 is definitely the year to load up on WRs.

Craig was here one year and the drop problems they had early in the year was the same problem they had the previous year so you can't really blame him.
I really believe he was let go because he wasn't meshing with Orgeron (recruiting) or Canada (system).
With that aside, LSU has one of the most talented WR groups like every year. Racey McMath is an underrated freak of a WR, Drake Davis has Julio Jones level measurables and physical talent, Anderson is a tall and smooth WR (reminded me of AJ Green when Anderson was in HS), and Chark is like a Travin Dural clone.
I'm also really ready to see what Derrick Dillon can do as his agility was straight filthy in his HS highlights, and he looked pretty damn good at the All American game. Sullivan is a huge 6'6 target that I could see as an EZ threat.
I'm hoping the QB competition brings a change at QB.

If we can have a offense that uses multiple WR's and a capable QB then getting top wr's should not be a problem. I think many top Wr's will be waiting to see how we do this year. Breenan should already have them interested.

We have a chance with a lot of great WRs this year, especially in state. I'm interested in seeing who we get. We already got Kenan Jones. I'm guessing we might get Marshall, Jason, and Keys, but I'm not sure if we'll get any more after that.

I think LSU will sign 4 in this class. Wouldnt it be nice to just keep the good one in the state. Little worried about who will be recruiting these guys though. hope Coach O makes a home run hire as Wr coach.

Chark is a lot more talented than Dural imho

DJ will thrive this year under Canada

I was asking about this year's group, not who we might get for 2018, sorry for the confusion. None of you have mentioned Drake Davis or Chark....

He could be a 1-2 round pick after this season in my eyes

Questions about this year's team typically should be posted on the tiger rant rather than the recruiting board, that's why answers have focused on that. Datbayoubengal had a good rundown for this season.

I see you like Drake as well as Anderson. I agree they remind of Julio and AJ, this whole offense can be sooo much if they let them play. This should be an area of strength with just "quality" play at QB. I do think though that drops can be coached out.

Thank you and I understand. My question also concerned those signed this year so I thought this was where it needed to go.

Marshall plays here at Parkway!!

If Guidry gets the grades up, he should be onboard next year also

Honestly, I don't think Netherly, McMath, or Kirklin (if he plays WR) will make much of an impact next year. Last year's class was so talented and there are a few older guys like Chark and Gage who should get a lot of PT.
I expect two of the three 2017 WRs will be redshirted, with the one who shows out most in camp getting a shot to play. I'd give Netherly the edge since he was an early enrollee.

Welcome aboard, my fellings are the WR group we have are very inexperienced but have tremendous amount of talent. My biggest worry is at the QB position until we get that sorted out and have a QB that can put some fear in defenses we will be good but not great. I feel our defense is the strength but it's way early to determine if we can win with an Etling or Harris at QB managing games.

Also going to be a battle to get. He likes LSU a lot, but also liked Bama more 5-6 months ago, now Texas A&M has the edge. Another school could come in the picture too.

Sorry for the hijack, but I'm not even sure Bama will be able to decide to take Guice out of the game any more. I'm certain no one else will.
Carry on.
