Not sure why it's so hard to cut the loss and move on.

Agree, but he is a home-state 6-6 OT and it's hard for folks to cut that loss. Looks like we will only need two or three OL for 2016 since we pulled in a great haul for 2015.

Stonepony

State players not wanting to attend LSU is probably only one of many things that will make him miserable. Some people just look for any reason to embrace misery, especially on the rant.

Like many are saying, lots of kids want a new experience and getting away from home in your "best years" on someone elses dime is a great time to do it. Now some kids, like Nick Brossette for example, had family issues, so they chose to be close to home. Most people do not understand, but as a college football player at a program like LSU, you hardly get to go home. You stay nearly the entire Christmas break on campus doing bowl prep and maybe get half a week to go home and spend it with family. Almost all summer is spent in the weight room conditioning for the upcoming season and attending summer classes. Some kids see that and put more value in being closer to home/family, while others simply want to get away. To each their own really, and neither is the always correct answer, but Allen sounds like a kid who may just want to get away. I hope not, but only time will tell.

Some kids want to get out of state. Personally, I wouldn't choose Tuscaloosa, AL as the location to broaden my horizons, but different strokes... I'm sure the fact that we signed a 5 star OT, 2 4 star OT's, a 3 star OT, and Shipley who might slide over is a little concerning for future playing time. Bama signed 1 3 star OT in comparison.

I personally don't think this kid is good enough for everyone to get their panties in a wad over. He's no Cam. We just signed the best OL class under Les and without doing research would most likely be up there with the best ever at LSU. Oh, and they were all out of state except one. Let the pieces fall and bitch after signing day.

Yeah, the potential for Dillon, Malachi, and Duke all to start next year shows there is a curse.

I agree with your thought process but didn't Robbie Green select Bama as well. I know we offered him.

After pulling Chidi and Toby last year I think we can go out of state and get some OL talent if Allen wants to bolt. I see why Les said what he said. Its time to take a stand and become a national brand not just depend on LA kids. If we get 80-90% each year we will be fine. Let the Allens and Pattersons charlots etc move on. Someone looking to get away from there home town will select us.

Big difference in a Curtis player going to USC, UCLA, Michigan and going to BAMA. No one has a problem with a kid going to another environment but from Louidiana but to leave and go to BAMA? That's what frustrates us.

Lets face it, not every Louisiana kid is a LSU fan. They may have been born and raised in LA, but maybe one or both of the parents are from out of state. Or they just have a favorite school that happens to not be LSU. It sux, but it happens.
