Letting O go this early and with a December signing day, Im curious how things unfold the next 2 months leading up to signing day in Dec. Will LSU keep their primary recruiting assistant coaches and let the new HC bring in coordinators.

I would think the new HC would strongly consider keeping Corey Raymond and (possibly) Brad Davis for purposes of recruiting. Some of the off the field people may be retained as well.

While probably less so than in 2016, the LSU program is not completely broken. There ARE good pieces currently in place. It is just a matter of the new HC figuring out the good things he wants to keep while also making the necessary changes to bring the program back up to a championship level. It probably wouldn't be wise to go completely scorched earth without first evaluating what does actually work around here.

You let the new coach pick his staff. You don’t want a coach who will let those things be dictated to him. You can recommend he take a look at Corey or Mickey, but you definitely don’t tell him he has to keep them. So it’s all up to the new coach.

I think it’s likely that Raymond stays around regardless of who the new guy is. I think support guys like Mason Smith and Austin Thomas have a good chance of staying around.

It’s widely known that Raymond is one of the best DB coaches in the country. Not many people would let him go.

We have some solid assistants. It’s primarily our head coach and coordinators. I’d be surprised if Blake baker came back too. Carter as DL coach is up in the air (let’s bring meatball home).

Our special teams coach is great but really old. Besides baker and mcmahon I could see a good bit of assistants returning

recruiting staff

I assume these guys (Austin Thomas, Mason Smith, et al) are working closely with Woodward right now and that group will mostly be retained.

As for the coaching staff, you really have to let the new guy make the call on everyone, but he'll know he needs some continuity in the near term for recruiting purposes. He'll also need to know how the relationship with the New Orleans HS coaches works.

I think Davis, Raymond, and Joseph are all strong possibilities. Would depend on the next coach and what he wants.

Davis and Raymond should be retained.

Joseph and Faulk will be interesting.

Carter should get a look.

Jorge Munoz may stay.

Austin Thomas and Mason Smith will stick around.

Yes to Raymond. Don’t think Davis has done anything special to say he’s irreplaceable

Davis has been here for 4 months. Did you not watch the game last weekend. Better blocking. Younger guys actually showing development.

Joseph is safe I think.

Faulk is a terrible, terrible coach.

Raymond would almost be a must for continuity, but that depends on whose going to be the DC.

I think it will be on a case-by-case.

You don't make those decisions for your coach. He has to put his coordinators in place and they make those decisions with the HC in some instances. Either way, the best way to go about it is to let the coach decide. Woodward will probably vouch for a few guys, but I imagine that'll be the most input he offers.

Raymond, Joseph, Faulk should all for sure be retained. Carter and Davis would be good to keep too.

You still feel that way after watching ole miss?

I'm not saying Davis is bad since he has only been here four months, but a new HC can bring a new OLine coach and do the same thing
