Absolutely true. He's from Hidalgo,TX and sought out another school that would showcase his talent. Basically recruited himself to schools and chose Calvary. He's not the typical LA kid. If not for the hiring of his brother the drama from our fans would be much less.

As for the ops question, yes and no. Any other qb on the roster is gonna have some effect so that's the yes part. The no part comes down to the fact that the odds of him coming here are 50/50 and nothing is changing that right now.

All these threads bout Shea and all the concern/near melt are fine and justified but to me the threads that should be made and the questions asked should be about the kids Shea is tied to and friends with. How much effect does he have on those kids and will they come here if he doesn't or do some follow? We've got Franks so Patterson should be less if a concern. Mykel Jones, Devin White, Alexander, Lawrence and the others that are buddies with Shea are bigger and more pressing needs overall IMO. Where's the concern about those guys? I know people don't believe in packages but Jones traveled to CA with Shea and White was just at TAM with Shea(traveled together). I'm more concerned with those guys than Shea

I don't want anyone that is scared of the competition at LSU

It's not like we have Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck on our team

Miles and Cameron are a little smarter than some of the guys on this board. Gibson more or less fell into their lap and they're going to go all out to get him. When you have poor QB play from year to year, you don't under-recruit to clear the way for a future prospect like we did for LF. You go after the best QB you can get every year. Oh, and to all the guys saying he's not coming here, you should read some of the updates on his recruitment

Seems to be a little smoke rising from various posters here. If mutual interest is enough to go to another level, I have no idea. A week from tomorrow, if not before, we should know

Well were there's smoke there's fire. Let's hope all these 'insiders' are right but i wont get my hopes up until NSD

Exactly!!!! You take who you can get and go get more. This is how you end up with a QB that can actually win championships! I just don't get some people and this idea of saving spots. Let them transfer or what ever and you tell the next one to just beat him out and he's the starter. I think Franks is a great QB but Shea may be better and Gibson is probably one of the best WRs out there. Don't see why he doesn't see it and willing to switch if it doesn't pan out, especially if his upside is at WR and it is. This is where you will make Millions of dollars young man and this is where you may not even be drafted and if you are drafted you play behind someone for good in the NFL Mr. Gibson. Simple as that, now you have BH, Franks, and Patterson on the team and LSU is now looking like QBU..... I like GT

USC has two top QBs committed this year as well as Max Browne who was a 5 star recruit two years ago. If that didn't stop him from having USC as a top 3, I don't the Gibson will stop him from having LSU in the mix. All I know is that we need two guys next year and 2 guys the year after. Hopefully he wants to be one of the two for 2016.

With that said, I believe they should go all out on Dwayne Haskins. I love that kids game.

Look, there are so many WRs in Louisiana and out of Louisiana that we have a chance to get that it doesn't really matter. Also, we damn sure aren't hurting for receivers either. I would love for White to be an LB or RB recruit because he is a beast, but again, we will have 5 RBs on roster next year, plus there are other highly sought after RBs just in Louisiana alone we could get if we lost White and wanted another guy. If you are talking the two DT prospects, don't worry, Ed O has that, and I doubt they'd follow a QB to another school.

How can anyone not want Gibson in this class?? He is a superior athlete, regardless of where he ends up on the field in his future.

This. You take every single QB that wants to come and let them fight it out in spring and fall camp for the starting job.

'm sure Franks will be an excellant QB. But from everything I've read about Shea over time, it sounds like he is the one guy that we never have been able to get

When they camped together, it was pretty unanimous that Franks looked better. Would be great to get both, but you take the guy this year if you already have one locked up for next year. Give him a year to develop and reevaluate when '16 comes in.

No. Franks and Patterson should only be concerned about one another.

He is a take. The kid is a hell of an athlete. He could end up being a Cam Newton type of QB or a big bodied receiver. I will take either one all day long, especially when we are way under 25.

Someone said on here that Shea is not originally from here and may not be a LA kid. Any truth to that?

Yeah, he's not originally from Louisiana. Basically he went high school shopping and picked Calvary in Shreveport. He was committed to Arizona when his brother worked there, but then his brother took a job at LSU, and he decommitted and we became the favorite.

I'm not sure why Ole Miss is suddenly getting mentioned. I figured he'd either end up here or somewhere in the PAC like USC or something.

well SP is making friends with a few la. prospects. that shows leadership on his part. for all we know, LSU is orchestrating all this and once SP has firm bonds with these guys then LSU will step in and make its move.
