My two pesos:
There is no problem with having a "dual-threat" (DT) QB on the roster. The problems arise when that DTQB is made the centerpiece of the O and the DTQB is not of the caliber of Tebow, Cam, et al but still gets a disproportionate amount of touches. IOW, you phase-out many of your better playmakers.
IMO, when JJ was signed ('08) it wasn't envisioned that he would be a starter and get most of the snaps. Rather, I think they envisioned using him like RP was used in '07. After the debacle of '08, Miles abruptly changed course and the rest is history.

QBs are tough to project, I have 0 problem with us taking 2. Have you people seriously not taken note on how quickly depth there can evaporate? This has absolutely nothing to do with Rettig

We won an SEC championship with Ryan Periloux before he got kicked off and then we had 4 yrs with J Lee and JJ. Matt Mauck was a semi dual threat QB in which we won the NC. If Perilloux would have kept his act together we probably would have won 1 w/ him

This is right on. With our troubles at QB I will gladly take 2 guys that look like they can play. Gives us options.
At QB you have to have someone who can run the offense, sometimes its hard to project who will be that one until you give them play time.
