Why isn't Trey Quinn ranked higher than he is in the National Services Rivals #104, 247 #128. You would think with the stats he has and the intangibles he would be ranked higher

Height - 6'1
Weight - 200lbs
40time - 4.38sec
vertical - 32inches
2012 Rec yds - 2,158yds
Tot Rec yds - 4,599yds

Quinn needs only 1,269 to break former Evangel receiver Abram Booty's state record, and needs 1,758 yards to surpass national record holder Dorail Green-Beckham who was a top 5 target 2 years ago. I realize if he was a couple inches taller and his vertical was a little better that would help but he is not a small receiver by any means. I don't get it. I guess if he breaks all the records this year he will move up but you would think he would be in the top 100 in a few of the services already.

Being white absolutely holds him back, no doubt about it.

Can someone seriously look at Cameron Sims stats/film and say he is a better WR than Quinn? I dont see it at all.

White = possession receiver would be the implied bias.

I'm skeptical of that 40 time. Just doesn't look THAT fast on tape. But still fast nonetheless

He's a top 150 player on every site. That's damn good, who gives a shite if he's ranked 100 instead of 70 or 80

Trey Quinn reminds me of Steve Largent. Great hands and runs routes with precision. Great get for LSU

Not a good comparison at all. Again, compare him to a white WR. This is the point of the thread. The only white "athlete" I would compare TQ to is Lance Alworth aka Bambi. I heard someone else mention this and it is so spot on. LA was so smooth and ran a 10.6 100 just like TQ. Largent was slow as dirt. Great, but no where near as fast as TQ.

I don't seriously think that they ranked him where he is because of skin color. I'm sorry for comparing him to Steve. All I know is that he is a solid receiver and I am glad he is in PG.

This dude is still growing and will probably be 6'2 before he leaves high school. He's a 6'2 great route runner with 4.38 speed, hands of glue, and highly productive. Sign me tha frick up no matter what his star power is.

And Largent is in the Hall of fame....There's more than speed that sets people apart. This kid seem to have the "it" factor. Call it desire, or whatever, he just makes plays.

No need to be sorry, we know it was nothing bad implied. I just think people are often lazy and just automatically see color when comparing. Also, we can't think that people who rank kids don't let the human side say no way a "white" kid is this good. So, I know we would like to think otherwise, there are still small minded people who see color as an issue in different situations. See the "Black QB" vs the "White skill position player".

I can't believe that Sims got bumped ahead of Quinn.
