You never seem to amaze. Lets see if anything below
has to do with Les Miles well deserved Shitty Rep for QB development.

1) He recruited the QB's -check
2) He hired the OC/QB coach to develop them -Check
3) The offensive scheme he ran was not QB friendly-check
I've come to believe, and fair warning I'm starting to become a broken record with this, that the biggest problem with Les and QBs wasn't the scheme necessarily but in the fact they didn't really prepare for an opponent (with the scheme); they only prepared to run his offense.

I don't know if it was fear of risk, fear in general, lack of faith in the QBs (or other staff), or what. So it was more philosophy than scheme. But when you don't ask a QB to do more or anything different, guess what he doesn't do any more or any different. It was a "this is how we do it and it works ____% of the time" mentality. Unfortunately, when something different was required the QBs weren't ready; possibly not skilled enough to do it.

To answer the OP, which I didn't in a previous post, my personal wish is that LSU would fight for Gerry Bohanon. I think he's the right fit at the right time.

Oh no,some poster on an anonymous message board won't like my posts.
Ask me if I care if a football ignorant poster down votes my post.
If I cared about down votes I'd join in on the bashing of the last 11 years.

It's amazing how when miles was here he , and he alone, was the reason our qbs weren't good. Now that he is gone we dont have decent and.

I won't apologize or shy away from pointing to hypocrisy.

Stupid post. Miles was fired during last season. Allow some time for new regime to take over the recruiting and development of LSU's QB's. You will see significant improvement from our QB position simply because of Les Mile's archaic offense being gone. Go back and read what Tim Williams said about our offense...."you didn't have to prepare for the passing game because all we did was run the ball."

It's only stupid of you jist forget what 90% of this board has bene posting for a decade. It's been posted a million times that Miles was the reason for our bad qb play, not the and themselves. Now that he is gone its the qbs.

Tim williams was talking about this year. Miles wasnt on the team for that bama game.

It's really funny watching posters like you and flobtuse change the narrative now that Miles is gone.

I've had friends calling for Miles firing ever since the night he jumped up and down on the sidelines just before halftime of that Tennessee game during his first year frantically trying to call a timeout because he didn't want the clock to run out. Didn't realize that time clock stops after a turnover. I've supported Miles over the years because his players played hard for him and LSU was usually in the conversation when it came to SEC Championships. But as Saban came back and established BAMA, it made it more clear how far behind LSU was falling. Miles would not change his offensive philosophy. It was time to move forward....give the new coaches some time with these QB's and you will see marked improvement.

pretty sure we didn't make his Top 6. I hope we can get back in with him if Rogers goes to TCU.

I hope Canada and O push to get a QB and not just be satisfied with getting 2 last year. I don't expect McMillan to ever play and Scott has his physical limitations (although I still have some hope for him). That leaves two probable redshirt Fr after Etling. We need to build up that position.

Yeah, very very low chance of my wish being fulfilled. Noteworthy that State got a verbal from Jaylen Mayden so it might give LSU an opportunity to get a pinky toehold.

Fields is a long shot and if he flips it'll probably be to UF or AU. I've seen Kevin Doyle's name pop up on 247. He's a 3 * from Pennsylvania who Canada probably recruited while at Pitt.

Dak Prescott was not recruited by a lot of teams. They all missed out on him. LSU signed Mettenburger and had a commitment from Gunner Kiel.
Although I agree w/ you generally re: DP's recruitment, the timeline needs to be corrected. Indeed, DP and Mett both signed in 2011. But Gunner Kiel signed the next year, 2012. What really hurt us was not so much that we missed out on DP (although we did recruit him, but not until Dec 2010 after he'd already been committed to Miss State for 5 mos), but the fat that we signed Steven Rivers instead in 2011. That single incident summarizes our biggest problems recruiting QB's during CLM's later years: we recruited the wrong QB's because we were very poor at assessing high school QB talent.

None of the geniuses on this site knew much about Prescott either.
True. But I I expected LSU's coaching staff to know the high school players and who's worthy of our recruiting.

unless a QB has Louisiana ties, its going to be difficult for any recruiter to convince a high 4-5 Star OOS QB to come to LSU. The state has quit producing top QB's, its a big problem for LSU. There just arent enough good ones available in the country anymore.

I'll agree that LA doesn't produce the large number of better QB's like TX and CA, but no other state does either. OTOH, LA does produce enough quality HS QB's for it's flagship university to have a roster full. Using "247 Sports" recruiting site, I looked at the top rated LA high school QB's 2014-2017 and found the following:
'14 Dual #54 and #55; pro #3 (Brandon Harris who signed w/ us).
'15 #10 and #22. We signed #46 dual qb Justin McMillan from TX. Pro Zero top 50 in LA.
'16 Dual #25 (Lindsay Scott, signed w/ us), #30 and #34; Pro #1 (Patterson was from IMG in FL, but I think the Rant counts him as LA), #32, #39 and #47.
'17 Dual #2 and #9; Pro Zero top 50.
Of all those LA QB's we signed only 2, one was though to be a fall back recruit (LS) and the other was poorly utilized at LSU and has transferred.

The big problem is that in CLM's latter years, he and his staff were inadequate in: evaluating QB talent, identifying what kind of QB we wanted (dual threat vs pro) and coaching QB's once they got to campus.

quote:

The Jennings/Harris years have tainted the program like it is.

True. But it only takes one season w/ a good offense and good QB play to erase that.

Once Etling leaves, we have these on roster;

McMillan
Scott
Brennan
Narcisse

We really don't need a QB in '18, '19 for sure (2).

You're right. The last elite LA QB was Perrilloux. Since '05, the next highest ranked QBs were Harris and Keytaon Thompson. That's not good.

Dark Prescott comes to mind as a LA QB who not only did well at State, but now in the NFL. Big miss by Miles & co.! Had we got on him earlier he would likely have come to LSU but we didn't, and that's spilled milk.
I agree with the poster that it's gonna take time & it's too early. Hang skins on the wall and QB's will be knocking down our doors. Also, recruiting strong OL's to defend them is Huge.
