too soon to worry about that. How LSU's offense looks this year is going to determine everything.

It took Les years to build our reputation as a place to destroy QB's. It's going to take O and Canada a season or 2 to turn that perception around. We have to prove that the forward pass isn't a trick play at LSU.

Justin Fields is the name I've been hearing for a couple of months now, mentioned him a few weeks ago. Top 5 guy that's committed to Penn State but thinking about opening his recruitment back up. Canada is visiting him today. Several teams are trying to flip him.

I've already posted the off the radar QB I like and would go after.

Exactly. If the offense looks good, do people think we can't beat out MSU or Kentucky?

Or the flip side- That unless a QB has Louisiana ties, its going to be difficult for any recruiter to convince a high 4-5 Star OOS QB to come to LSU. The state has quit producing top QB's, its a big problem for LSU. There just arent enough good ones available in the country anymore. And the few that are, arent going OOS and not be the focal point of the offense. Miles was just like this crew, looking under every rock across the country to find one and thats how Etling and Mettenberger ended up here.
LSu wouldve been in very dire straits without these two. The Jennings/Harris years have tainted the program like it is.

They need to go after Colson Yankoff DT QB out of Idaho who committed to Waskington. Washington has two top 5 QBs in their class. Yankoff is playing 2nd fiddle right now to 5 Star Pro Style QB Jacob Sirmon.

What about Jordan Loving or Will Levis? Both are mid rated pro style but have some upside?

I think you try to put pressure on Yankoff and Sirmon to play them against each other to try to get a flip from either one of them.
Same can be said for Tanner Mckee and Jack West. West is committed to Stanford and Mckee is a Stanford lean. Should be difficult for either school to keep two top 12 QBs in the same class.

Dak Prescott ain't too shabby. Blame the former LSU staff, not the QB talent out of HS

Dak Prescott was not recruited by a lot of teams. They all missed out on him. LSU signed Mettenburger and had a commitment from Gunner Kiel. They missed but so did a lot of other programs. None of the geniuses on this site knew much about Prescott either.

On point statement(s).

Have to remember, and I do have to remind myself because I'm as bad about it as anyone here, anytime we talk development of a player, any position really, there is shared credit/blame. It's hard to affix how much on either side of coach/player, but each side has a responsibility. If a player doesn't put in the work, nothing the coach does will advance him. If a coach doesn't give the instruction and tools, that development will at least be stunted. It's a combined effort.

I remember Mett having a less-than-stellar first year starting; lots of dropsies from OBJ and Landry were a factor. OBJ and Landry began going out with Moffitt and catching a 100 balls a day off the jugs machine. It took them deciding they needed to get better and a non-coordinator non-position coach to provide a little support for that to happen. Then Mett turned the corner. Combined effort.

That being said, I can't help myself just like every time in the recent past having my hopes up for the "next guy up". This time it's a little different. I think all the pieces are there to have the "combined effort" for all QB's, especially BOTH Narcisse and Brennen. I want them to have to fight it out. And note, it won't be over a spring or fall practice. For a QB it will be fought over through drills, the film room, simulated games, practices, etc. It will be a cumlative measure of their development over time to decide. It won't be about who's better now. I will be about who got better fastest, because that tells you the trend and where they will be in the future.

To complete the loop here... look how fast Dak developed under Mullen at MSU. And no, no one saw it coming. Firstly, Dak knew he had it in him so he busted his butt. And Mullen is excellent at QB development. Dak didn't have skills beyond others on that roster, not at first. Mullen took someone coachable and with a good work ethic and turned him into an NFL QB. He didn't arrive that way. Case in point, look how fast Dak took the next step once arriving in Big D. Mullen taught him how to learn to be a QB. It's the equivalent of being taught how to study for your avg student. He learned how to learn to be a QB, not the just the plays and the mechanics.

But wait it was Miles that made our qbs bad. It's amazing how quick the narrative has changed.

You never seem to amaze. Lets see if anything below
has to do with Les Miles well deserved Shitty Rep for QB development.

1) He recruited the QB's -check
2) He hired the OC/QB coach to develop them -Check
3) The offensive scheme he ran was not QB friendly-check

Keep it up Rick. Getting to where now anytime i see your name i just automatically down vote. Soon i wont even have to read what you type
