Who was Tony Ball responsible for recruiting this past year?

I realize we just had a pretty great WR haul and overall great recruiting class, but I feel like I never read anything about Tony Ball. No recruits mentioning him, no stories of him on the road, etc.

Was he just an absentee recruiter?

Regardless, I am fricking stoked about Craig.

I've been wondering about this also. Was he ever assigned to a specific territory?

He wasn't brought in to be an ace recruiter. He was known more for his coaching ability.

I get that, but did he recruit at all?

I don’t even remember our WR recruits saying they’re excited to play for him or anything like that. It was like he wasn’t a part of the staff.

yes, but he teamed up with others like BDP. I don't think he was lead on many kids.

He recruited plenty. Shea and Sonny often update where coaches are headed and he was included all the time. Just wasn't that guy who would close the deal or be given the credit for pulling in a guy. Seemed like all the guys he visited were guys that were already solid or were a long shot.

I'm a member of 247 and I don't remember his name being ever mentioned in recruiting. So much so that when they said he was leaving, I was like oh, I forgot he was even on the staff.

he was either largely ineffective or he's known his fate for some time now

Wonder if Miles knew Ball and Steele were one year rentals.

Tony Ball Recruiting Page

He was the secondary recruiter for many of the WRs, but you're right. We didn't hear his name much from the recruits. Seems like whatever they were doing worked though bc there are some stud WRs coming in.

He didnt secure any guys on his own for us. He was the secondary recruiter for a few WRs this class since he is the WR coach but other recruiters on staff went out and secured the commitments. Ball was an average at best coach and below average recruiter. We seriously upgraded, at least on the recruiting front. He left a lot to be desired as a coach IMO for not being a recruiter.

His biggest contribution was visiting with Stephen Sullivan's parents in Texas while Cam met with Stephen himself in LA the same day. Apparently this strategy paid off, but it's a stretch to say Ball was the mind behind it or just told to go. Either way I doubt he is missed much on the recruiting front.

Both Drake Davis and Dee Anderson have mentioned him. And even though LSU never had a shot with Demetris Robertson, he mentioned Tony Ball several times.

his lone responsibility was yelling at malachi dupre when he fricked up in practice.

i think that's the only thing i saw him do here.

Tony Ball was not the worst coach, but far from the best. He was truly mediocre.

Probably very few care, but does anyone know where he may surface next?
