Who was the first recruit you really followed?

Lets take a break from obsessing over this seasons recruits, bashing high school kids for their decisions, and spreading he said/she said gossip to reminisce why we all started following recruiting in the first place!
The first recruit that I really followed was Jarvis Landry. After his junior year in high school I knew he was special, and it has been a ton of fun to watch him develop from high school stud to the leader he has become for the Tigers!

1994- roommate had a strange magazine called "Jeff Whittaker's Deep South Recruiting". I was like a geek at a comic book convention. Couldn't put it down. It broke down recruits by state. Each player had a profile pic, rating, brief write up of accolades/stats, etc., and of course, each school in consideration. On the cover was a stocky TB from Carencro. The rest is history.

I followed recruiting for LSU but first time I actually paid attention to a single recruit was probably joe McKnight

Salmon, I am with you Ryan
Perrilloux. It was the first time I cared about where the best of the best were going and I couldn't believe he was going to UT to play. It lit a fire a passion for this recruiting game that I can't shake. I enjoy recuritung more than the season. I guess because it last all year and the season comes and goes in a blink of an tiger eye. I am hooked

I've followed recruiting since the late 90's but it wasn't until the '05 class that I became a full on recruiting nerd. I really followed quite a few of the guys in that Super Class.
Glen Dorsey
Xavier Carter, (Such high hopes, )
E.J. Kuale
Claude Wroten, etc.

I started really paying attention during the 2009 class with Michael Ford, Craig Loston, and Russell Shepard.
Jarvis Landry is probably the recruit that got me most excited(obsessed) about the process.

Started following LSU recruiting closely since the 2001 class with Spears, Clayton, Hill, Wilkerson, Big Whit, etc...
I once had a lot of inside scoop through various connections but we've all since graduated from LSU and have moved on to bigger things.
We all still stay in the loop though.
Don't post much because of the childish nature of most newer posters on this board.
BTW - this class will finish as one of the best classes LSU has ever assembled...give it time.
