Yea moving Herron inside sounds plausible. Wasn't brockers like 255-265 when he came here?

Herron weighed 235 at the opening, he's really not as big as many think

Never mind on the juco guy. Just saw that he is committed to Ole Miss. His name is Marquel Combs out of Pierce Community College in California. Not sure if we try to turn him. Probably considered a backburner candidate in case our other targets fall through.

He wont be on the oline, he will stay at D. It was discusses earlier in his career, but he is going to stay on defense, especially with the lack of depth that we will have after this season

Yeah, I thought he was a likely, but not certain, move to OG. It appears he stays at DT. He's certainly strong enough, and his proportions do remind me of Booger McFarland. I really like the kid, so I hope he's a superstar in 2 or 3 years.

Mickey is an overrated weightroom warrior who made a living doing the bull rush against weak competition. If LSU has to depend on Mickey to be our go to DT, Lord we are in trouble.

I hope I'm wrong too. I watched him play for 4 years and it was plain as day to see that Houston Bates made Mickey.

Mickey?? Seems more like a OL transfer.

Hes only 6'

And why won't he make a good DT?

I think Mickey would have been a hell of a center. However, unlike five years ago, we have a ton of offensive linemen and are thin at DT. So I don't see him being moved.

As for his prospects at DT, I see him being an Al Woods/Marlon Favorite type guy. The big guy who can start and eat up blocks for other players, but rantards will call him an underacheiver for not living up to potential, blah, blah, blah.

I think the staff may be planning to move Frank Herron inside. Dude is in the 240-250 range and has a huge frame.

I think this would be a good move considering the depth we will have at DE after this year and next year's signing classes

Hopefully he'll put those strong legs to use. He squats like 700lbs? And he's not 6' tall. Most measureables are Inflated. He's like 5'11, anyway. He should have a strong low center gravity.. Maybe it could be used better for pass/run blocking.. Well see!

Why the hate for Mickey? I am not saying he is the next coming of Glen Dorsey, but he will be solid. This is his first year after redshirting. Damn you guys are rough.

Mickey might not be a #1 DT, but he will be a hell of a complimentary tackle. Might not have the quickest step in the world, but he will be a run stopping force when he plays. Pair him next to a bigger, faster DT that is a pass rusher, and I think he will be solid. In a year or 2, Im not sure if anybody will be able to move the kid if he doesnt want to be. Hes built like a refrigerator.

I don't think anyone is hating on MJ.

I think this is what everyone is saying. Like I said before. Marlon Favorite & Al Woods type DT.

Relax guys. We should definitely start putting the full court press on some 2014 guys if Gilmore is the only 2013 recruit but Mickey will be just fine. Like Jtran said he is strong with a low center of gravity. He will be a great nose tackle type. I know Chavis doesn't classify DTs but Q Thomas will be a good penetrating/pass rush 3 technique and Mickey will be the perfect nose tackle type to anchor down and occupy multiple blockers and help with the run and let the LBs run free. I don't see Herron moving inside. He is a good DE and should stay there but getting Gilmore this year and with Ego and Freak starting next year LSU will just have to really hit the DT trail in 2014 &2015. We will be just fine

LSU needs to take a look at this kid. He's a four star Texas A&M commit, but hopes to get an offer from LSU.
