I don't post here much, but follow the board closely. Here's a list of targets with whom we are still in the running. I'm just wondering if the new hires might help us just enough to garner a commitment.

Daylon Mack: I know he de-committed from aTm, but would be surprised if he didn't wind up there. Is there any way Coach O could pull this one out? We need some d tackles badly.

CeCe Jefferson: He's not a defensive tackle, and frankly he's light in the saddle, even for a defensive end, but has the frame to put on some weight. Before you people who know everything start to lamb baste me, I know Barkevious Mingo, and Danielle Hunter were pretty effective pass rushers, but were pushed around by physical offensive lines like those from Bama and Auburn. We need to start recruiting heavier DE's. With the hires Auburn made, keeping him away from there would be a huge win for LSU.

Donte Jackson: I know he has scheduled to announce next Wednesday. I feel like he's a must get. Sort of like Landon Collins was a few years ago. I looked back at some of the other threads, and all seem to indicate he's a solid LSU lean, but what are the chances he heads elsewhere?

Prince Tega: Again, a light DE, but he's 6'8" He could put on 50 pounds easy. It might make him a step or two slower, but he would be a beast. Any way we steal him from the Alabama teams. Again, keeping him off of the Auburn team would be a bonus.

Thoughts?

To me I believe it will help get Leo Lewis the most.

Since when is being a 275 pound DE considered being light in the saddle?

Getting Tega and Jefferson would be huge. We don't need at DTs in this class.

Basted lamb is so good! Herb garlic with a touch of mint, imo.

What are you talking about? CeCe Jefferson is listed at 6'2 245 Rivals, 6'3 248 ESPN, 6'3 258 Scout, and 6'2 275 247sports,. For reference Montgomery was 6'3 230 coming out of high school. He dominated in the run game and was a sack machine.

He'd be 250-260 once the season started anyway.

I guess I just dont see DT as such a need like most ppl do. Godchaux and LaCouture have the spots nailed down for now. Valentine is eligible this year, and hopefully Gilmore, Herron and Bain finally pan out as they were all highly touted recruits. Leo Lewis and Donte Jackson are higher priorities. Jackson could play some offense and give us another Russel Shepard like weapon. Also really need another linebacker or two.

Next Year
Ed Paris
Ed Oliver
Rashard Lawrence
Glen Logan

Would IMMEDIATELY pass whoever we could get this year on the depth chart. So, no, DT isn't a need this year.

what games were you watching? Pretty sure he had 2 sacks last year IIRC...

Please no. We were good against the run in most games, but not once did we have a good pass rush. We need faster DEs with natural pass rush ability.

Edward Paris won't bulk up that much to geaux from DB to D line. Ed Alexander is the DT for '16.
Sorry, just had to laugh thinking of the DB hanging w the big fellas and Gilmore or Bain telling him to throw down more crawfish etouffee or the scrawny man will ride the pine.
