It's obvious to me you need 3 deep starters and a fourth that can get you out of jams as a long reliever and then filler guys like bugg also. A closer wouldn't hurt either. We need more quality depth that we haven't had but are now getting. We still need more too. At least one great arm this next recruiting cycle and a shutdown closer if we don't already have one. If Stallings could develop his pitches and throw accurately he would be a good one.

Damn. I think I could have went all day without seeing that. I hope the JUCO players help this cause.

These rankings are useless.

They certainly don't tell the whole story. The Tigers' leader in home runs and rbi this past season was not highly regarded and in fact, The U reneged on their scholarship offer to him. Chinea turned out to be pretty good. Many others who've starred for LSU were not highly ranked out of high school. Same can be said for a few of the JC guys, though they are often closer to their college peak, for obvious reasons. LSU will be a favorite to have the best pitching staff in the league next season. The offense will be the biggest question mark going in but they'll likely be a pleasant surprise with Coach Andy on the scene. 40+ wins and a regional are almost assured with their pitching; looking forward to being the favorite to win it all in 2017.

Name some of these "many others that starred for LSU that weren't highly ranked," and how many NC's they contributed to. Vandy played tonight and they're at the top of the rankings. Florida had a team full of Freshmen go further than LSU's veteran laden team. Explain that.

We had a young pitching staff. I'm not sure what florida has but we ended the season ranked #1 and won the SEC. We had a great year

No, we ended the season 1-2 in Omaha and won the SEC because we didn't have to play three game series' against Vandy or Florida.

Dallas Baptist University at #54? Whoever's recruiting for them is doing one hell of a job.

One series at the box and one on the road i would expect LSU to split the six games.

Tigers should win two in BR and hopefully get at least one on the road.

Lange would give us a great shot in his two games.
If Poche was on for his two starts I would think we could win at least one.

It is inevitable for LSU to lose recruits to mid majors in baseball. Example: LSU offers player 50% scholarship as they have 11.7 for their roster. Mid major takes chance and offers same player 100% scholarship and puts all eggs in basket to get this type of player. Player and family evaluate options: Free or $20,000 a year? Boy we love LSU but free sounds great. Different strategies for Schools depending on your school. UCLA's strategy is they basically give out the 11.7 in approximate 50 percent portions have a smaller roster and they sell the education as the cost for in state students would be about 15,000 grand a year with 50 percent scholly. They get Walk ons after that.

Just a few points regarding baseball recruiting and the Perfect Game Rankings:

1. If you go by avg ranking per player then LSU moves up to 7th on the list instead of 20th.

2. As noted by other posters this ranking does not include Juco recruits.

3. Also, as noted earlier the rankings will change once the players that sign professional contracts or substracted.

4. And finally - Do you recruit based off of rankings or team needs.

Just some thoughts. Recruiting rankings matter but a lot of other factors matter in fielding a balanced team much less winning championships.

Juco or not, that ranking is just weak for a program with the university and fan support at LSU.

Once again, JUCO players are a big part of our class, that significantly can affect rankings. Also teams that lost a lot to the draft vs. teams that did not...affects rankings a ton. There have been teams that were initially in the 11-15 range and vaulted into the Top 5 post-draft signings while some teams that were top 5 fell out of the Top 10.
