What's the logic behind not offering Russo?

At this point, at least two things are clear re: QB recruiting:

1. Haskins is far from a sure thing.

2. It would be very beneficial for LSU to sign a QB in this class.

Thus, why didn't LSU offer Russo? I'm confused.

I'm assuming they don't want to give a spot to a 4 star stud they expect to sign by giving up 2 spots for qb?! Everyone acts like les and ccc haven't thought this through. Let's just see how this plays out.

I don't get it either. I think it's mainly the QB competition argument. QB recruits are fickle, they don't want to compete like other skill positions do. Amazing that we can still pull in Williams with LF, and get Guice and Brosette a year later - they welcome the competition; QBs, not so much.

Did you see the Narcisse announcement last week? When he decommitted, he stated that he was considering LSU now because Cam said we are changing the offense to more of a spread concept, after LF leaves. Spread is not the best fit for Russo maybe and the kid realizes it.

Let's wait and see if the offense actually does change before taking someone's word for it. We've heard a lot of things about the offense the last decade, big change it has not.

That being said, maybe they finally frightened Miles into changing it.

The first option is Haskins. Russo's only other option at this point is Temple, which he has said is a back up plan if LSU falls through. So, LSU has a presumed QB in the bag if they offer him and one that is preferred that will be making his announcement before NSD. Why would they offer? Wait it out until Haskins makes his decision. Russo isn't stupid, I'm sure he understands the game that's being played.

I looked up the post, and it specifically stated that Cam told Narcisse that we are installing an offense that will fit a dual threat QB. It didn't specifically state spread, but dual threat instead.

While I see a lot of drama queen in these QB recruits, we had 4 RB take meaningful snaps this season. We only had 1 QB take meaningful snaps.

Russo was not a realistic option from the getting him to come aspect. He wanted that temple offer bad and he got it. Let's move on fellas

I don't recall reading anywhere that he WASN'T offered. Maybe he turned one down.

QB offers are a formality. The staff went in-home with him, and he likely told them thanks but I know where I want to go.

Russo never said this. The guy who recruited him to Rutgers took a job at Temple. His "interest" in LSU has been in passing at best and Temple certainly wasn't a backup plan if LSU didn't offer.
