we got RP, who was not coming here to play under Sabes

it was a small class b/c we couldn't take that many and recruiting wasn't as scientific on how to skirt the rules back then

Tebow was a junior in high school when Saban left. He did not start playing until 2006. Miles was coach for a full year before the signing day. Geez.... Saban was fired??? That's news to me.....

OK, I should have said "Saban was gone". My bad. But Mrs. Tebow said it. Long after Tim went to Florida. Like I said... maybe she just lied. I don't know Mrs. Tebow and I don't know her email address.

I don't recall--why was the 2008 class so bad?

Only about 12 / 26 of them saw the field. 8 of those 26 signees had no business playing collegiate sports, much less being offered football scholarships to what we believe to be a top 10 college football powerhouse.

Years ago at a Bama press conference when Saban was asked, he said that RP had told Saban (when Saban was still the LSU coach) that he was going to switch to LSU. Now I don't know if Saban was lying about it, but that is what he said. I am not going research that obscure after a daily practice press conference but I remember it well.

I still think he would have wound up at Ole Miss

A kid who was saved from the ghetto by a former Ole Miss BB player and former Ole Miss homecoming queen? And huge Ole Miss boosters? An Ole Miss lock, you say?

There were only 8 that stuck with their commitment after saban left. One thing though is you kept a couple of people from staff. Like if I recall, Jimbo suggested offerimg trindon because he had been recruiting him prior.

Think about that class though, they would be the upper classmen in 08 and 09. So either way it impacted those seasons.

That 08 class still helped win the sec.

09 and 11 pushed the team over the edge.

Just like last year and this year's class would have. Which is why I always said let Les run his contract out. He's building this team back up again. But too late, can't have a coach about to lose his job out there recruiting. No turning back.
