Obviously he is a tremendous talent. 3rd player nationally on the 247 composite is legit.

Has anyone gotten to see him play?

Is he Patrick Peterson level? PP7 was easy to recognize because he was just so big and physically imposing. Stingley doesn't necessarily have those measurables.

I'm just curious what we has shown that we can look forward to when he is a Tiger.

Umm what?

Patrick Peterson listed mesasurebles and times:
6’1” 203 lbs
4.34 - 40
38” Vertical

Derek Stingley at the Opening:
6’1” 193 lbs
4.30 - 40
42” Vertical

Derek is an extremely intelligent CB. His dad is a DB coach. He’s long, very fast and has great hips. His explosion is special. Special player that is being called one of the best CB prospects ever. He’s the PR day 1 for LSU. It will be very interesting to see who emerges as the CB and Nickel between Kris, Kary, Kelvin and Stingley.

Derek is going to be very hard to keep off the field.

Here’s a pic of him and PP7 before Bama

Patrick’s leaning slightly and Stingley is in front of him.

He is very similar to Peterson in that he looks like he is barely running and is still running in circles around people. He closes gaps and runs away from guys without looking like he even cares he is running.

Not sure if he is as strong or as physical as Peterson was but he is the best pure athlete LSU has signed since him. Unless Greedy comes back he will be the best corner on the roster as soon as he steps on campus.

Peterson is a great comp.

Best athlete on the team day 1 and a great kid on top of that.

Better than PP at this point in his football career.

One of the best all around football players come out of LA since I've been following LSU recruiting ('90).

He's more polished, that's for sure, and faster, which is crazy to think about.

Overall explosiveness, athleticism, and fluidity are very similar.

He's rare. Very rare.

Well we got PP7 like 10 years ago... is he that kind of talent?

How does he compare to Patrick Surtain? I was thrilled thinking about that secondary... Grant Delpit on the backend, them 2 on the corners.. woulda been 2011 all over again

Is he prone to cramping?

PP7 was great and probably cost LSU a win over Bama whenever he had to sit out a play and Julio Jones broke one.

Peterson didn't get significant playing time until well into his freshman season. May have been a starter by the Bama game that year.

I think Stingley will be ready to start day 1 for 2 reasons.

1. Need
2. Spring enrollee

I mean the stats floating out aboutnhis junior year, he had 11 picks on 13 targets.

It’s insane.

My kids go to Dunham with Stingley. He is at least 6’2” and closer to 6’3”. Incredible athlete overall. Great hands, would be a high level WR recruit as well. Fine young man and will represent LSU very well during his time there
