Willis would have been rather useful right now. I still tremble at the thought of the defensive line being among the worst in the country in TFL a season ago. You can never have too many good linemen.

Fournette's family was extremely upset once they gathered the news from the Brown family on the sidelines. It was evident that the Tigers had been taken for a ride if you will.
I imagine the families talk, and they probably said he was going to LSU. But in the end, money talks and bullshite walks.

I don't see how this was explicitly the turning point. There has to be more to this than that, but I do know that you said that you couldn't share everything.

It showed that he cared and that keeping in touch was more simple. Plus saban is a god and has healing powers

the fact that many inner city kids resent LSU.

How many other examples are out there?

well i shouldn't say resent...i should say "don't feel the need to rep local"

Noil
Ed Reed
Reggie Wayne
Joe McKnight
Kordell Stewart
Mannings

The stigma of LSU is polar opposites with many of these kids. A lot of them hate hearing about LSU all the time. Noil and McKnight come to mind,

McKnight saw Reggie Bush. He wanted to be that. Noil sees a wide open offense and the success they are having thanks to Manziel and Sumlin so he thinks that's the sexy school.

There is more allegiance to the state school in small towns than in big cities.

Very well written thanks for the information

Any information on Hootie Jones and a guess on which stipulation cost Texas Saban?

But Fournette almost went to Texas? These two statements seem contradictory.

Nm makes sense since lf and family were not in total agreement.

i stand firm on my conspiracy theory that hootie's decommitting from bama was a ruse to bait LSU into ruining the Jamal Adams pursuit. Immediately after LSU was a serious player for JA Hootie backs off bama. When Adams announced LSU, Hootie tweeted that he was back on board at bama.

Did you just call the Mannings "inner city kids"?

Honestly, I don't think that's far-fetched at all. I also think the LSU coaches' behavior indicates that they believed it was the case, as well.

Thanks for the insight.

I think for me Noil and Willis were the biggest upsets.

Noil has electric playmaker written all over him. Sparq score, quickness, acceleration, etc.....This guy is going to be great! I keep hearing stuff about him and marijuana. I hope he can keep clear of the stuff and have a great career.

Willis; everyone thought he was a virtual lock. I guess like you said, he kept it to himself. We neeeeeddddddd DT's too. That hoit bad!

For me being born and raised (for the most part) in Louisiana I love our state. I love it when the State retains its best players and we get to see them play more. I think it also speaks volumes about the state of our state if you will. If players want to stay they like what it offers. If they want to leave, I wonder if there is something more that the residents/geography couldn't offer.

Again, thanks for the insight.

I don't think he means necessarily kids from rough neighborhoods or something, just that in a big city the world is a little smaller, and it's a lot more common to see kids who aren't as tied to a particular area as they seem to be in small towns.

During some of those players time, LSU sucked balls though.

I also think you're forgetting some rather highly-regarded small town kids, too:

Cameron Robinson (talks like a waterhead)
Denzel Devall
Greg Robinson

So we almost lost Buga too

What a kick in the nutz that would have been.

And what's the deal with all of this Anti-LSU factions around these kids?

Brown's Dad opens his eyes and sees Saban walking his son through the visit...extremely opportunistic. Brown just may be able to fish at Saban's house, being that close. He'll have plenty of time, as his shoulder is a mess.
Willis is a lockeroom cancer and the LSU coaches were not big fans of his attitude.
One thing you failed to mention was Leonard Sr about to tear Jr a new one when he thought he may just pick UT.
Great read, Details, Thanks!

I know many people in Louisiana that just don't like LSU. And because LSU fans hate bama, people that hate LSU tend to be pulled to bama. Kinda like someone outside of Dallas being a cowboys fan. Blame it on the chem trials, I don't know their just weird.

Thanks for the post. If LF would have gone to bad guys would have been like Lebron leaving Cleveland. Adams is such a good get. speedy would have been awesome but he couldn't continue to live in LF shadow. I agree Willis attitude stinks. Brown won't last with his shoulder and would rather Tolliver.
