The biggest question is whether he is willing to sacrifice playing off the ball for a slightly better chance to win a championship. He knows that if he comes to LSU he will be taking the ball up the court whenever he wants.

If UK doesn't somehow pull a couple other big name guys, I like LSU's roster as much as UK's or more... We may not have all the 5 star guys, but we have guys who have worked hard, played in the system, and are ready to take the next step.

Also, if Poythress decides to leave, UK will be in a whole lot of trouble with that roster...

Devin Booker leaving probably sealed the deal for them. That's what I've been hearing.

I love posts like this. Really? Youve been hearing this? Where? On here? On the radio? haha

This! Never was coming. It's a game to these pampered kids. If he wanted LSU, he would be committed, period.

It's like Speedy. He's not committed because he's going elsewhere.

This is just stupid.

We could say "If he wanted UK, he would be committed, period."

What is different?

He hasn't taken a single official visit. He came in for the LSU vs UK game, but he hasn't seen all the facilities or met with academic people. Any of those things. He just isn't ready to make a decision yet. His season just ended...

No one knows. Coach Cal already told Ulis he wants to build a team around him (presumably at PG) and Briscoe the #1PG in the class committed, there still won't be very many opportunities for Newman to play the point there. However, he would be a good SG at UK.

At the rate he can score he would see playing time at UK. The wildcard for both UK and LSU is who else is coming to play with. Newman said having Bigs helps him as PG and UK has very little for Bigs right now so I expect to see some movement on commitments on the front court positions. LSU has Simmons but losing M&M leaves a gap too.

Another wildcard is Duke is losing a bunch too so they will get their top tier allotment too. I am sure all of this NBA talk will spice up the BB recruiting talk for a while.

UK did not have any positions open until the bus just unloaded...

LSU is hard after 7'1 Greek 5 man Georgios Pappagiannis. He was at one time rated as a top 30 player before leaving the states to sign with Greek pro team Panathinaikos for a year, but because he is only 17 he is still eligible to play in college. Before he left he had offers from Kansas, Arizona, Duke, and MSU. It looks like it's down to us, Oregon, Iowa State, and St. John's. I'm sure Dale has some old Greek connection he can use to give us a leg up. That should smooth any concerns Malik has about big men.

With Lavin gone from St. Johns, I'm not exactly scared of them. Sucks Oregon feels good about him, though I don't understand the appeal other than their awesome arena. Obviously Iowa State has nice selling points, but I can't imagine them having a better depth situation.

On top of Dale's connections, I'd have to think David Patrick could make some phone calls

He just started to get re-recruited, so I think it's a bit premature for anyone to feel really good. Kid isn't even a lock to go to college. He very easily could be a 1st rounder in this years draft. He'd probably be in the 20-30 range and a draft'n stash, but he'd still be a 1st rounder.

I'm definitely not penciling the guy in by any means. However if he wants to go to college and visits LSU, I'd feel about like i do with Newman now

its not good for lsu i know that much...doesnt take a genius to figure that out. its a coin flip between lsu and uk. i dont think msu or kansas has a real shot. lets hope that the opportunity for him to be on the same team as simmons and blakeney wins out.
