I saw a video of him playing basketball and the guy is a damn good athlete. Is there any chance they try him at DL?

The only reason I ask is that we have a ton of OL but not as many DL and he seems like the rare OL prospect that has the athleticism to make the switch.

This is purely a question and by no means am I implying that this is something that LSU will do or should do. Just curious if anyone else had similar thoughts.

It’s not typically the best idea to recruit and promise a kid he’ll be a certain position and then change it

I guess there's always a chance, but I'm pretty sure that the plan for Davis is to be the heir apparent to Campbell at LT.

I think the big question is what they are going to do at RT.

They cannot keep one of those two on the sidelines next year.

It works if you can show the kid he can have a quicker path to the field and be just as successful.

I assume you're talking about Jones and Heard? I assume they will move Jones to guard and play Heard at tackle. Or at least rotate Heard in a ton.

We also have Heard waiting on that spot. Not to mention Calloway and Williams that just signed as tackles as well.

Meanwhile at DT, we have some seniors and then Shone Washington and thats it.

Legit question, but if they made promises and think he's the next Will C, then rock on...

Well I agree with that. You don't break promises unless the kid is fully on board with making the switch. I just think he is a candidate to flourish on either side of the ball.

Just because it hasn't been done in a while, doesn't mean it can't be done. A'shawn Robinson at Bama was recruited as an OL and switched. Its rare but not unheard of.

That’s one example in the last 20 years where it worked out.

Devin White was more recent, recruited for RB and moved to LB.

The average salary for a RT in the NFL is $5.4 million.
The average salary for a LT in the NFL is $8.2 million.

The average salary for a DE in the NFL is $3.2 million.
The average salary for a DT in the NFL is $3.3 million.

If a kid just doesn't develop that's one thing. But 5* offensive tackles don't switch positions just to get on the field quicker.
