U-High vs St Charles Catholic Scrimmage from Nola.com
I know it's a mistake but in this article they name Garrett Brumfield as a 290 lbs OT AND the starting RB!

That's not from nola.com, it's from sportsnola.com.

Two different entities.

Fournette is the backup plan for Brumfield, that's why he hasn't committed yet

I am wondering how good SCC is supposed to be this year. I thought they usually had pretty good teams, but first team versus first team was pretty ugly for them.

And FYI, although I didn't see him get any carries, I got there late. He did get some snaps at DT though-talk about stop up the middle.

Our depth is a bit of concern, but our ones should be able to line up with most anyone in 3A.

Numbers are down that's all. From what I understand U-High met the 3A enrollment by only 1 or 2 students when the official count was taken. I'm sure they are under that number now due to student transfers this school year. Don't quote me, but I've heard that U-High is now the smallest school classified as 3A by enrollment. Not playing up by choice.

I'm pretty sure this is accurate.

I was just wondering if there were fewer guys out for the team or something.

I went to a AA school, it's easy for one small class to really affect the numbers of the whole team.

Might have something to do with the number of recruits the are piling up at the school. It's starting to get unreal over there with the amount of kids they are recruiting.

U-High (415) will be the third smallest school in Division III playoffs behind John Curtis (368) and Evangel (372).

Rumor has it that a couple of teams in our former district helped with setting the cutoff between 2A and 3A. I do know we had fewer students than the previous classification, but the bright line was dropped, thrusting us into 3A.

Both of whom typically dress out >100 kids for football.

I think both Evangel and Curtis are still classified as 2A by enrollment, but are opting to play up one class. U-High has been classified as a 3A school by enrollment. Thus, this would make them the smallest school in 3A.

The LHSAA is just like the NCAA...USELESS! I've never been one to agree with handing over absolute authority to an entity like NCAA and LHSAA! These entities historically have bestowed favors, changed rules and guidelines without enough research, and have been inconsistent in the handling of rules violators!

they taking a hit with the new coach right up the road....

not nearly as good as they were two years ago.. and not as good as last year..

which was 3-4 touchdowns away from ND last year.

nah... look at the number of teams in each class.... and where ya'll fall... just bad luck...

your former district mates don't wield a lot of power at LHSAA...

choupique-I know you follow these things a lot more closely than I do, so did enough teams lose enrollment to move us up, even though our total number of students was down from the last classification? Certainly just in our area, Redemptorist and Capitol have plummeted in numbers.

Back to the OP, speaking of playing both sides, I I would love to post the clip of my DE dabbling at WR from that scrimmage. If Manny airs it out, he walks in for a 60 yd TD. He had to wait awhile, giving the safety a chance to catch up to him. I'm going to have to get one of the Dads to show me how to grab clips out of hudl.

that and a couple of school closings/mergers so the total number of football playing schools affects it as well..... and those choosing to play up affect the numbers as well.

actually if curtis, eca and loyola don't play up... u high would have been the 4th or 5th smallest 3a school

I was watching some of the Preseason special Caubs did last week and getting angry at that biatch from Winnfield all over again. Suck it up lady, my kids will have had 7 years of varsity football at U-High between them, and had Curtis and ECA to deal with every one of those years. She had one good team during the last decade and they got curbstomped by JC. That's not an exclusive club.
