His only chance at maintaining his eligibility at ND is for the family to move into ND's zone

If he doesn't move into ND's zone then he definitely wont be eligible.

I agree with you on that point. However, his eligibility will be challenged even if he moves. It's not as clear cut as you make it seem.

It would be cool for him to be eligible to play, but even better for him to be eligible at LSU. For that alone, ND is a better spot for him.

I heard one of his parents already found a place in Crowley. Can't wait to see what this kid will look like after he gets coached up by McCleary. I guarantee you Shelvin will slim down after going through the workout program at ND. He will be welcomed w open arms at ND. Great landing spot for him.

I have a kid that plays at ND. If he's gonna play at ND, he's gonna work. The other kids will make sure of that.

I went to ND many moons ago. We had students from just outside of Lafayette to the east as far as Jennings to west. Probably just needs to live in the parish. FWIW we didn't recruit nor did we use steroids. Just a good weight lifting program and lots of farm kids.

Can someone explain a private school's "zone?" Couldn't a kid live in Baton Rouge and go to Holy Cross if they wanted?

I graduated from Crowley High in 97 and had many friends at ND. Just a bunch of strong dudes that worked on the farm and in the weight room. When Cook was at CHS for the second go around I used to hit in the cage in his back yard. The guy is all about hard work. He knows what he's doing

They absolutely can. But if they dont live in the district, they have to go to the school for an entire year before they are eligible to play sports at the varsity level. Catholic schools have feeder schools that can count as going to the school but obviously, this wouldnt be the issue. If he moves in the district, he is eligible immediately just as he would be at a public school.

Even then, they'll have to convince the LHSAA that the move was not for athletic purposes.

It isn't a lie to say ND is a better academic opportunity than Northside

To say anything other than Notre Dame is basically 100% better than Northside academically would be dumb.

Way lower than that, they had like 6 or 7 shutouts
8 shutouts if I remember correctly, and most of those points were scored on the scrubs in 3rd and 4th quarter. Gave up like 3.7 ppg. Best high school defense I've seen.

Hell, they turned the ball over 3 times on their side of the field in the 1st half of the state championship game and only gave up a 40 yard FG.

From what I've heard of Shelvin transferring, his parents wanted to get him away from some bad influences, and they contacted ND, not the other way around.

From what I've read Coach McCleary is a pretty intellectual guy, watches tons of film and has his defense very, very prepared for every game. So Shelvin will be learning from him in his final season which should make him an even better prospect and better prepared for early success in college. He'll then go on to Aranda who has the smartest guy in the room rep.

I saw ND play Riverside in the Dome this year and that defense was just ready for everything thrown at them. Riverside gained some yards through the air but ended up with 135 total yards, including negative 26 on the ground. Riverside had several D1 prospects on their team. Notre Dame did not have that level of athlete but just played well as a team with great coaching.
