He's not totally honest, not to the point of hurting his chances.
Is he the best recruiter in history? Yes
Does he give the recruits a true idea of what things are like after derecruitment? Yes
But he won't tell them things like this... The "process" wears on their bodies and shortens their playing career.

What kind of crap is this?
The only RB Alabama has had in the Saban Era with a significant amount of carries in one season is Derrick Henry and he hasn't played one snap in the NFL.
ETA: As a matter of fact, until this past season Alabama has been the best example of RB by committee in the SEC.
If the 3 other RBs Alabama recruited in the 2013 class hadn't flamed out, then Henry wouldn't have had to carry the ball that much.
Hence the recruiting of Etienne for much needed depth in this class.

I heard Etienne's offer may be to play DB at Bama. Any word if that's true?
Posted on 4/25/16 at 9:34 pm to JakeFromStateFarm
Not to my knowledge. We need RBs, not DBs.

quote:Nope. Bama wants him at RB. Saban called JHS head coach and raved about his ability to make guys miss and how he can get 10 yards with minimal strides. Loves his yards after contact.

Saban said that Travis fumbled 3 times last year with only 1 being his fault but it was 1 fumble too many and that ball security is the only thing he wants Travis to work on next year.

Last time I checked this was an lsu recruiting board. Don't push it too far. What I said was accurate.

Derrick Henry didn't have a significant amount of carries, he had the most carries by a player in SEC history in a single season. Alabama has ran a running back by committee when they had the bodies with Yeldon and Lacy or Richardson and Ingram. However like most teams if they didn't have that kind of depth they ran the bell cow over and over. That's why Ingram and Richardson, Henry, and Yeldon either led the SEC in carries or were top 2-3 in 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2015. Etienne doesn't look like the size back that's gonna get 280-350 carries a season in the SEC anyway I'm sure he will be fine.

Yeah he ran Henry into the ground didn't he. Processed 5 or 6 players and ran the remaining ones into the ground.

Akers or Carter plus Helaire. That is it.

I get riding the hot hand but almost 400 carries is insane. Henry seems like a great guy but with his running style its gonna be difficult to translate to the NFL imo.

bullshite. He ran a 10.92 at the state meet and finished fourth. No kid who isn't hurt is gonna run a 10.5 FAT in a meet and lose a half second. That's nearly five steps at the finish line between 10.5 and 10.92.

If he was clocked at 4.3 in the 40 then it's not block technique. But I'm pretty sure his 40 time was 4.52 FAT at that combine which make much more sense considering his 100M splits.
IMO he is one of the better backs in the state all classes and it shows on film. But quit exaggerating track times. Louisiana for the last several years hasn't had a true Track Star speed wise.
His offer sheet shows how highly thought of he is. Let's not try and make him the next Fournette. When it's obvious he isn't.

Agreed. But in all due respect please talk to your kid:).

And to be honest, that is all we need. We won't need more than two max this year. Now, next year we may go after an extra one to make three. LSU will never hurt for RBs in the near future.
Its obvious to me the coaches simply like Helaire better than Etienne. I trust their judgement on RBs. Only so many you can take.

Not true Kentavious Walters and Donte Jackson were both legit track speedsters a year ago. Donte is currently the fastest player incfb, and Walters has the fastest 60 in the country, but is in juco
