SEC Country Article
quote:
"That visit to LSU was crazy,” Wilson told SEC Country on Sunday at Nike’s “The Opening” regional camp in Houston. “I got to go up in the stadium, sit back with Coach Miles, Coach Orgeron and Coach Peveto, and they told me to visualize myself playing here, making plays here.
“They really set themselves apart from everyone else.”

That would be insane if we got the top 2 DT's and top LB for this class.

Dear Marvin. .... please say I do

This is good news but after several recruiting cycles I am in a "wait and see mode"

The news couldn't get any better about the big fella unless he actually committed

It seems like bama will push for Shevin if we do indeed get wilson. I hope our staff can pull both of them and get valentine if he stays out of trouble

Of course they will. He's one of the best d-lineman in the country,

I don't think getting one would push the other away.

I'd rather just move on from that project. He has talent, but hasn't managed to make an impact on any team he's been on yet. I wish him the best, but think that ship has sailed.

He seems to have tremendous respect for this coaching staff.

He also said, to the same outlet;
"Alabama’s depth chart on the defensive line isn’t deep by any means, and that’s something five-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson has noticed, too.
Wilson, the nation’s No. 4 prospect from Episcopal High School (Bellaire, Texas), told SEC Country at Nike’s “The Opening” regional in Houston that the biggest reason drawing him toward the Crimson Tide is the ability to play early.
“That draws me to them so much,” Wilson said. “If the depth chart is thin, that just means I can go in and play early. That’s important to me.”
The 6-foot-4, 316-pounder has already told SEC Country’s Jeff Sentell that Alabama and LSU will be finalists when that time comes for Wilson to release his official top schools. On Sunday, he told SEC Country that Florida State, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M are working their way in the mix for him. It’s clear though that Alabama and LSU hold an edge right now.
“Those schools still stick out the most to me,” Wilson said of the Crimson Tide and the Tigers.
One reason for that is because of his relationships with Alabama defensive line coach Bo Davis and LSU defensive line coach Ed Orgeron. Out of all the coaches he keeps in touch with, he’s closest with both Davis and Orgeron.
“I talk to those two guys almost every single week,” Wilson said. “They keep it real with me and are getting to know me on a personal level.”
The U.S Army All-American said Davis’ message is simple but effective: “We need you here and we need you to play early.”
Wilson is listening.
Wilson also knows how well Alabama has developed defensive linemen over the years. Just in this draft class alone, A’Shawn Robinson and Jarran Reed are projected to be first-round picks in this month’s draft.
“They put out pros. That’s the biggest thing for me,” Wilson said. “They get guys to the next level.”
Wilson is expected to make a return trip to Tuscaloosa this summer and make his commitment on National Signing Day."

I want to believe. In this era of recruiting it's hard to take recruits words for anything more than face value until signing day.

“It’s a second home,” Wilson said of LSU. “It’s great that anywhere I could go, I could leave home and go to another home. It’s a good situation for me.”
Not going to say the writing is on the wall but that quote goes a long way right there.

Thin depth? Tell Marvin Wilson this.
Bama just signed 5 stars 6'7 335 LB Raekwon Davis and 6'5 365 LB Kendall Jones both at DT and last year they signed 5 star Daron Payne.
in 2015, we signed 0 DT's. in 2016, We signed Rashard Lawrence at 6'3 300 LBs and in Aranda's D, he's a SDE. Ed Alexander is the only true DT we signed last year and we need to see how he adjusts to playing college talent rather than his small school division in STA.
LSU has the thin depth, not bama.
