I think its pretty shady, regardless of my affiliation. Thats a good way to burn bridges. I would think UNT would be thankful for JJ's services while at UNT.

Also, JJ could potentially send recruits their way in the future or give the current head coach a heads up on a guy that could help them, its just bad business.

I assume you mean after the 2012 season, since we're opening with them.

Katz wrote about Odoh in his blog today(am on phone so no link). Seemed a little behind as he didn't know UNT filled all scholarships sans Odoh. Also their AD claiming he never grants releases unless for academic reasons.

If LSU is not recruiting Odoh, then it doesn't really mean much, but it appears that North Texas is going to hire assistant David Anwar, who recruited Keith Coleman to Nebraska. Hmmm.

What's your take on all this Bubba? Do you think Odoh plays for LSU this year or not?

Those quotes from Johnny Jones were pretty definitive. It would take a lot of crawfishing for him to sign Odoh now.

So, I will say no.

I don't know the whole story, but either Johnny speaks the truth and never had any interest, or he tampered and got his hand slapped.

I don't know. He can't recruit him before he is released, so obviously he's not recruiting him. That doesn't mean he would say no if Odoh asked to attend... I see it as coach-speak.

Could be coach speak. He could have worded it much different, though. He was very definitive. We will see.

This confuses me, they just gave away Odoh's spot. How could they not release him

They are also releasing another player. The shite about their AD never releasing anyone is bullshite. It's either a misquote, a misunderstanding, or just wrong. That is an impossible position to have, because just as often the coach is WANTING the player to leave. It's a two-way street. UNT releases players all the time.

I agree. The quote from johnny jones
quote:

We are not involved with any UNT players at all," Jones said. "I would call and ask the current head coach's blessing if we planned to contact anyone after they were released. I have been at several universities and have never tried to recruit a player who was going to a school I left. I don't operate that way."

seems to say to me that if the new coach wants the player I wont touch them but once they are released they are fair game. JMO.

Hopefully this is the way that J. Jones feels about Odoh, because I would really like him in a LSU jersey
