miles was a damn good recruiter but the last few years it seemed we were awaiting the decisions of the skill players (mostly) to determine our final rankings. this year it's the front 7. hell, we have a damn good chance to close with the best front 7 class I can remember. what a difference that orgeron/aranda make over chavis/haley.

personally, i'm not all that hepped up over "the class rankings" per se. they can be high without filling needs. Louisiana seems to always produce a lot of skill players so it's the trenches and the lb's that concern me. but I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed for this years finish. the days of LSU's dominant Defense are back.

That's because Cam "The Toolbag" Cameron isn't the OC.

It's going to be a party for LSU on NSD

the difference is that we are making a clear push towards the end, rather than sitting back waiting on decisions....

it seemed that if we targeted a player at a position and we didn't get them, we'd just go to the next player interested, regardless of position, and then try to take them....

this year, if we target a guy at a position, say LB, and we don't get them, we then go after another player or players at that position... that's why we'll flip Phillips, and still possibly Allen...

No the difference is Les would have the class locked up prior to NSD minus 2-3 spots. This year we have 6-8 spots to fill. That's why it "feels different"

yea, I never thought of it that way and I can see that explaining much of the new feel. but I can never remember LSU being in on this much top talent in the front 7 at the end and the end is where much of the top talent is. if we sign those 3 LB's and 3 DL guys we're in the hunt for LSU could be the best D in America a coupla years down the road.

I don't remember it that way - so I spot checked ya.

In the 2015 class we recieved commitments from 9 recruits in late January - early February.

The 2015 class is also an exception because a lot of recruits who wanted to come to LSU decided to hold off until our coaching situation was stabilized (or appeared to be stabilized).

Look at the prospects that are left on the table and the openings this class has...

And there is a lot of smoke from new directions for LSU.
And several top recruits have said we were almost the choice. If you are getting big fish to the boat, you are doing a lot of things right, and you'll soon land one.

Hopefully losing out on some instate talent won't put a damper over the board.

LSU will close out this class with some damn good talent.
