I think i really said it wrong as i read my earlier post (the word original as i used it is at least unclear)... colt was supposedly going to switch over to LSU were RP to have indeed followed through and committed to Texas

UT and everyone else with a pulse knew RP wasn't committed to UT weeks before NSD

You can knock Mack Brown, but we were robbed this year and everyone knows it. How many NC does Bobby Bowden have? Joe Pa? Pete Carrol? all of them have one more than Mack Brown. I am proud to have him run the UT program.

You retards should be happy, you got to win your bowl game instead of being the sacrificial lamb in the National Championship.

Hey Will, is your cousin gonna make it to the LSU camp? You think he'll commit to LSU if offered, since Texas hasn't yet?

He said he was going to go. He likes LSU a lot and Florida has been coming on strong but his mother wants him close to home, so I dunno if he goes to far.

Here's a link to an older thread on the same topic from a little while ago:

TD

People saying Colt was always Texas and never wavered didn't read all of what he said (or have forgotten over time since he has been so good for Texas) IMO. Early in the process he was certainly concerned Texas' offense would not be the right fit for him

Here's a quote from an old thread about this
quote:

“I throw the ball real well and that’s not in their game plan right now. I want to go somewhere where I can have my shot at the NFL,” McCoy said. “I am a passer and I want to be in an offense that is suitable for me and right now the Texas offense isn’t producing big numbers in the passing game.”

LSU head coach Nick Saban, offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher and defensive line coach Travis Jones who recruits Texas for the Tiger staff have all been in contact with McCoy in one fashion or another since the beginning of September.

“I’ve talked to coach Saban one or two times in the past week,” McCoy said. “They have two young quarterbacks that are both redshirt freshmen and there is nobody behind them and they run an offense similar to what I am in right now that’s real cerebral. They like to throw the ball a lot and they like to have their quarterback be the leader out there on the field and that suits me.” Despite that fact that LSU has two young quarterbacks on the roster, neither Matt Flynn nor Jamarcus Russell has shown definitively to this point that they are the heir apparent.

“I can go in there and be battling for a position and that’s something I want to do and I want to have the opportunity,” McCoy said. McCoy also added that he has relayed his concerns to the coaches on the Texas staff and that he is not holding back on any of his thoughts. He prefers to be upfront and honest about everything.

“We’ve talked about it, there’s nothing wrong and we are just at that talking stage right now,” McCoy said. “From what I see is that I see Perrilloux as a guy that is similar to Vince Young and they have had this offense going for two or three years now, ever since Chris Simms left and that is not what I want to get caught up in. I want to be in an offense where I can lead my team to a national championship.” The Rivals.com three-star prospect says that LSU, Texas A&M and Kansas State have all been recruiting him equally as hard.

Now regarding the idea that down the stretch Colt was all Texas (and never considered going to LSU if RP went to Texas) the evidence is more circumstantial - but seeing as Colt was always a pragmatist and interested in going where he could play the most likely truth is he would have gone to LSU if RP had gone to Texas

Two more quotes from the same thread on this subject:

quote:

East St. John quarterback Ryan Perrilloux is going to sign with LSU and it is true that he is contacting other recruits to try to recruit them to Baton Rouge. I believe there is also a move right now to try to convince him to publicly announce his final decision as early as possible so that he does not string coaches along and it will help recruit others.

quote:

As reported on TigerBait.com last night, Texas’ other quarterback commitment Colt McCoy is also visiting LSU on the last weekend of the month. I do believe that Perrilloux is going to sign with LSU but if he does not, I believe that McCoy will have LSU paperwork and it’s possible he would then sign with the Tigers. I think it’s probable that Texas does not sign both Perrilloux and McCoy. One will be at LSU and the other will be at Texas

still nowhere close to him being an LSU commitment and switching at the end because of RP. He was possible to switch to LSU if RP went to Texas, which from the day Miles got hired was pretty much a lock as not happening.

I'm half and half with you here

I've already said my bias is that if RP was to go to Texas then IMO Colt would have gone to LSU (that's the content of my argument)

But RP was no lock to LSU... there was a lot of uncertainty about where he ended up too

Thanks Will! I'm pretty sure he'll get his offer from LSU, once he puts on a show for the new coaches at camp.
