I'm happy with the class. I really wish we would have gotten Speedy. That disappointed me. He's the best pure athlete I've ever seen.

Could you remind this old fart who doesn't follow recruiting as closely as some exactly who 'Speedy' is and where did he end up going?

Thanks in advance.

That's a sword than can cut both ways. That's why I go with "overjoyed" because of how the staff rebounded after being trolled by these prospects. Got to give Miles & staff major kudos!

Fair assessment, that's a nice way to look at it.

Is it just me, or does it seem that Miles and his crew seem to be getting more recruiting momentum as they go? They started out good, then got better. They got trolled on 1/2 and then kicked it into overdrive. Seems like they were everywhere, with fingers and all kinds of pies at the end, out maneuvering, booking coincidental flights, and flipping a few in the end, barely missing on AJ and Zo on the final sprint. Hell, they were even staging NSD celebration videos on ESPN and calling 2015 recruits at the same time. I really think LSU has decided to go beast mode on recruiting, and they're just getting started.

I think they were always this busy in the summer and have always been this involved. The addition of Grimes is huge though as Stud was considered to be a pedestrian recruiter and a serviceable but not elite position coach. Grimes is a good recruiter and an elite position coach, so he was an immediate and obvious upgrade.

Losing CRob, Hootie, Brown, Willis and Speedy sucks.

Replaced...

Hootie with Jamal - Upgrade
Willis with Valentine - Upgrade (considering eligibility issues)
Speedy with Chi - Even

We wouldn't have gotten these guys otherwise. CRob was the big loss because we didn't replace him. Brown too, but he'd have been nuts to come ride the pine at LSU behind RR and TW.

I can't help but to smile every time I look at this list of recruits. It's going to be a fun ride.

best class since 2001 (I think that was the Michael Clayton class), and maybe even better.

In the long run, I think the only one we will really miss will be CRob. Would have made this great class complete. Willis may not qualify, but would be my second most significant loss. We have really never used small speedsters like Speedy well (think Trindon Holliday). TB has already been arrested and Hootie's position was improved upon with Jamaal, unless he converted to linebacker. We done good.

I agree and would include, if Willis had signed with us , we might not have signed all of the other DL.

The losses that we had early on (speedy/willis) ended up turning out in our favor. Not only did we surpass them with their replacements we also secured future killer players for next season at a minimium if not beyond!

I posted it here a month ago, I will do it again. This class will be the most cried about class ever and will end up being one of the best if not the best LSU class ever.

People are saying second best but I think it could very well prove to be our best ever.

Happy with the program pumping day yesterday. Hats off to everyone from the recruits, parents, the coaches, LSU players (past and present), the fans, and of course, the RB (sorry, NSD Board) nuts. However, if we do not win two natties in the next four years, I believe the 2014 recruiting effort will forever be known as the "What If Class". Until you see how the teams and this year's class turn out, it's hard to stomach the loss of CRob, Speedy, GW3, and Kenny Young. On the other hand, their defections probably paved the way for guys such as Travonte, Trey L., and the Teuhema boys. From this point on, it's all about development, especially for the guys in the trenches.

Had Cam Rob gone to anywhere except fricking Alabama, I wouldn't care, but losing him to that damn midget is, for me, the lone item keeping me from being 100% ecstatic. Otherwise, I'm 99.5% thrilled.

Spurned by them, then replaced with better. I am not crying over them because it turned out we replaced them all with better the exception of speedy. And his talents although it would be super great to have, at least his talents are something that 90% of college teams don't have.
