Tamaje Porter pushes announcement back

After visiting LSU for junior day this past weekend, Tamaje Porter was expected to make his announcement this week but has postponed it until later. According to Porter, he had a great time during junior day and that gave him a lot to think about. According to people close to him, he has visited Auburn around seven times and his father really wants him to go there. I hear he likes LSU and has relatives in Louisiana, but Auburn plays a scheme that will give him more opportunity to showcase his skills. This will be interesting. Will he chose Auburn who has a shaky coaching situation or pick LSU who has a brand new coach, but one of the best defensive coordinators in the country?

I don't believe he is a take for LSU or Auburn at the moment and that's likely the reason he's pushing his commitment back.

We NEED this guy !!!
LSU is the rising team in college football....... NOT Auburn !!!!!!!

Do you mean in addition to the two DTs that are already committed for 18?

If you have skills, you don't need a scheme. Kick the guy's arse in front of you every play. That's the only scheme he should need

It's Timaje Porter!

That was Les Miles philosophy, and it didn't work out against the elite teams. Why not have the skills and also scheme to get the most out of those skills. This will get us over the hump and back to winning championships.

It's nose tackle! If he whips his block each play, the d can scheme how it wants. Sometimes the scheme is designed because of a dominant NT

I dont see on his 24/7 page that he has an offer from LSU yet... that is not always accurate though.

The two dt's committed are definitely DE's in our 3-4. You need massive at the Nose Tackle Position.
Look at the difference when Gilmore (who I believe is better suited as a DE) is in the game, and when Ed Alexander is in the game.

Pretty sure the Jenkins kid is slotted as a nose in the future. Cotton is a sure end and really doesn't fit there imo. Good player but I just don't see the fit but O knows DL more than I do.
We also have Rosenthal on the board and I don't think he will be playing end. Prefer he play OT but he seems bound and determined to play DT.
Who is Porters father fooling with the scheme to show his skills garbage? The kid is 6'1 341 with a damn near 6 40 time. He's a Nose if they ever made one. Auburn is selling hard. It would be comical if the kids and their parents didn't fall for it so frequently.

He would have to add a lot of weight to be a nose.
He is listed at 6'3" 290. Thats pretty much defensive end size.

I watched some reps he had at the Nola Opening regional and he didn't look great, had a knee brace on his right knee. Read he checked in at 344 pounds too.

Weight has definitely been an issue for him, so he definitely needs to slim down. I heard recently that other SEC schools are looking at him as a possible offensive lineman. He has great feet and if he can get that weight off, he could be a beast on either side. He's one of those kids that is flying under the radar, but could turn out to be a steal for somebody!
