Surtain on choosing Alabama: “They win championships. I want to be a part of that winning culture.”

Playing for Saban versus playing for 0.

Easy choice.

Not part of the losing to Troy and Notre Dame culture?

Why doesn’t everyone just go there and we just hand them an annual championship.

Why join for a free ring? There’s no honor of earning it when it’s that easy.

At least he's honest. Can't blame him honestly. At this point, if my son was sitting on offers from LSU and Bama, I'd be hard pressed to push for LSU right now.

That kills me to say as a die-hard LSU fan.

It's not that. he's going to be coached by the best and compete for championships.

As much as we hate to admit it, LSU can't offer that right now.

You may not be able to blame him, but I will. He is the problem.

Wrong. Surtain is only a symptom of the problem. Orgeron is only a symptom of the problem.

Joe Alleva is the problem. But for him, we aren't in this nightmare.

Going to a team “because they win” is vaginal. Fit, I get. That’s a smart choice. But saying, “Well, I want to go somewhere where everything is in place for me to win championships” is a bitch answer.

Remember when people wanted to come to LSU for similar arguments?

No it's not. The point is to win. Period.

If the point is contribution and not winning, then why don't the ULLs of the country have 5-star prospects knocking down their doors?

It's easy for these kids to go to Alabama. They are winning championships. All this bullshite with "I was torn between LSU and Alabama but they win". frick that crap, then come to LSU and let's try to turn this shite around. No, it's a easy out going to Alabama!

I wish more kids had this mindset, particularly the ones from Louisiana (which I know Surtain himself is not). I understand the draw of playing for championships. But to me, there would still be something appealing about helping the flagship program of my home state get to the next level.

No different than a kid picking MIT over Louisiana Tech if they had the option.
