Brandon Harris would have been a stud at Auburn this past year.Js. This OC needs to play towards his qb's strengths and adapt to changing times. Dude, is one of the highest paid assistants in the nation. There are no f'n excuses. There should be no problems. Good coaches adapt to changes. We shall see if we have a good OC, this year.

Salmon

I actually think he could. Of course he isn't going to look like him in the type of offense we run, but in a spread offense, yes Jefferson would have ran as good as Watson. Jefferson ran a 4.65 at the combine and he was 6'4 223lbs. Jefferson was also a tough bastard because he got pummeled behind that 2009 line and was pretty much an extra RB in 2010 and 2011.

He was always considered to have elite drop steps and I think with ANY coaching worth a shite he would have excelled. They scared him to throw the ball after Lee's 2008 pic 6 fest and his elongated throwing motion was never fixed, telegraphing his throws and making him ineffective in the passing game.

You're preaching is useless , bro. People like Salmon are dumb. They make fun of peoples comments because they really don't know football. I know football, I've played the game since I was 6. I can look at a Jordan Jefferson and see that he is a really good athlete that was used all wrong by LSU. They tried to make him into a pro style drop back QB in their power I formation with occasional designed runs for him. He would have been just as effective as a D Watson in Clemson's offense. But a Salmon wants to laugh, say stupid shite like Jefferson runs upright. LOL What the hell does that have to do with anything?? Is Jefferson a RB?? lol Upright or not when LSU called designed keepers for him he was very effective running the ball. Also, he would have been very effective passing out of this formation. Harris and this kid Scott would be just as effective to if LSU switched to that type of offense. But we know that ain't gonna happen.

and you're right about Jeffersons throwing motion, but look at some of his tape in his senior season. He was still decently effective passing the ball. Threw some bomb strikes down field that was on the money. He stunk it up in the NC game because he played so damn nervously. Could not believe that! You're a senior in your last game in front of your family and all in the biggest game of your life and you stink it up. He overthrew receivers by a mile, but Miles and co didn't help him out any by callin the bullshite that they called against Bama.

Having a more spread approach will almost certainly result in better passing results. It's a passer friendly system and most QBs LSU seems to be recruiting ran some form of the spread in HS.

Perfect example is Boykin. His one year switch from pro style to air raid was a dramatic success. I think it's detrimental to recruit and actually get the commits from the type of QBs we get and then put them in a old school pro style offense, especially one that uses a bunch of deep routes with no dump off routes. If a college offense requires an NFL level QB to function properly, then it's too much work for what it's worth.

Harris needs to work extensively on his short passing game, improve his footwork, and just overall accuracy.

LSU needs to go to a 3 WR set. I mean it has been beyond the time to do this. It makes no sense to recruit 4 WRs a year the past 3-4 years and still run a majority of 1 and 2 WR sets. We don't need two TEs for power running, we don't need a TE AND a FB for power running. Yes they can still be utilized at certain times, but as our main offense with the type of talent we have at WR, it seems like a total misuse of talent.

There are zero excuses for us to be bad or even average passing the ball next year. Junior QB in his 3rd year of playing 2nd of starting after 3 years of spring practice, 3 OL returning, and All but one WR and TE including your top 3 WR (2 of which have started the past 2 years).

Jordan Jefferson was a very stiff, straight ahead runner. He was nowhere near the athlete of Watson

Was he a capable runner? Yes. Was he on the level of Watson? LOLno

Jefferson finished with a faster 3 cone and 20 yard shuttle than Russell Wilson. For reference, Manizel's 3 cone was 6.75, and Mariota's was a 6.87 while Jefferson's was 6.81.

Jefferson is 9th for a QB in 3 cone drill over the last 5 NFL combines and 4th in the 20 yard shuttle for a QB over that same time span. He ties for 11th in 20 yard shuttle and top 20 in 3 cone drill with RBs added as well over that 5 year span.

Watson isn't some amazing runner, he just isnt stuck in a terrible offense.

I hate to say this, but after watching his film, he is once again a young man ill-served by Louisiana HS football, and is not a good fit for LSU. I'd love to be wrong about that, but to say otherwise would be a lie.

This is the most frustrating part to me. Look at the type of QBs Texas and Louisiana produce. Read option and heavy passing spread that almost never see under center. Why are we still going against the current on offensive philosophy? Seriously, I don't understand it. Even our pro style offense is long outdated. Patterson saw after one year that his offense wasn't going to work in the Big 12. Beliema got his shite in order only after two years. Saban decided to update his pro style offense two years ago, yet here we are, last of the pack. LSU and Vanderbilt are the only teams in the SEC not running at least 3 WRs in their base offense.

I just want someone who doesn't use his feet more than his arm and can throw an accurate ball

Don't forget about Danny Etling the transfer from Purdue. I think he will probably be the #1 backup, but if he is super impressive, he could start, but I have faith that Harris will be unleashed.
