Wasnt he a package deal with the 5 star LB that committed early to LSU then decommitted ? has any player ever become a star at LSU that was recruited to try and bring in a big time recruit. I cant think of any ? just curious. LF little brother comes to mind and the backup QB out of texas that i believe was recruited for WR Lodge out of texas but eventually went to Ole miss.Any others i miss?

What makes you say he's blowing up?

I've always liked what I've seen from his film and was never sold that he was just a throw in part of a package deal.

That narrative always seemed like it was driven by star gazers who wanted to take a shot at the coaching staff.

Had a few threads on this. He was the lowest rated out of (if I remember correctly) 3 recruits. Other decommited and he stayed. Some thought his buddies (may have) done this to get him a spot on the team.
Not long after a few recruiting gurus stepped up and proclaimed he was the real deal.

Would also like to see his progress this year.

Only thing I could find was he took unofficial to Georgia State October 21. And that was from 247. Found a mid season HL he posted. Looked decent.

Only 2 decent offers Tennessee and S.Carolina. And some smaller schools.

Seems like the state of louisiana has many players with this skill set why not offer them instead?

I'd be drop-dead shocked if he's a member of this recruiting class on signing day.

Member when Tory Carter was the lowest rated recruit in the 2017 class? He has found a way to contribute this season. Y'all just have to trust the staff's evaluations

I'm not knocking Griffin at all here, but Carter was a fullback which is looked at entirely differently than most positions. Your top fullbacks will get a 3-star majority of time, sometimes there will be a single 4-star an entire cycle. Their ceiling in the rating system is basically a high 3-star. It's not quite like a ceiling for a kicker/punter/long snapper...but fullbacks are rarely ever rated highly at all. Carter was the lowest rated signee, but was also the #3 fullback in the entire country.

Defensive line is totally different.

Oh yeah? Who you got? 247 Top SDE Prospects

There's only one similarly rated guy from Louisiana and his offer list is even worse than Griffin's, plus he's already committed to Kansas.

Griffin is rated lower than a lot of his peers because he is short. Plain and simple.

Not LSU or sure if this is the same scenario but Alvin Kamara and Robert Nkemdiche come to mind.

I believe they were best buds at Grayson and Kamara was given offers to almost everywhere RN was offered.
I could be wrong, but Kamara has really made a name for himself so far for the Saints

What are you talking about??

Duke was 6'2" 210, and was NOT the top LB in the state.

Hell he isn’t even 6’1”. Amazing how him and Deion Jones were both last minute signees, finally played their senior years and became legit NFL players. Says a lot about their character to not quit and continue to work hard.

Yeah well 247 said 6'2" so that's what I went with. Either wait he was not huge.

No doubt, but flys around like a missile. I wanted Cain off that Curtis team bad.
