Save this kind of shite for the SEC Rant where fairy tales lurk.
Ok I'll be quiet and let yall think what yall want. I'm just trying to help you get a picture from all angles of his recruitment. If you want flowers and sunshine I will stay on the SECr.

FWIW, you are actually the only Ole Piss bear to come in here trying to explain another angle other than the "stay at home" line that has been used countless times. And the stuff about CJ turning around a program actually makes more sense, so dont let everyone else get to you, and this is coming from someone who tries his best to keep Rantards off this board

Be kind to HoddyToddy, he comes in peace and is delivering good, though hard to hear, info.
This is a huge position of need for us, CJ would round-off this class perfectly. But right now he's leaning Rebel.

what part was delusional?
I think the part that, if a kid from LA goes to another school our take is "how can he leave home? or He will have a hard time living here after college?" and when kid goes to his instate school, the rantards are shocked anyone would not want to get out and experience the college life. It's ok guys, we can't get everyone.

I know it's not exactly the same, but I'm sure fans of bama and aTm were saying, "Why in the world would Faulk want to go to LSU? He must be getting paid."
Posted on 1/25/11 at 9:07 am to Suntiger
BEcause Faulk wasn't being recruited in this era of media and communication.
This is a different time and atheletes are informed as to everything that goes on and who is going where on a daily basis.
Staying close to home is big for young kids to overcome, depending on the family situation.
HE WILL NOT CONTEND FOR A TITLE WHILE AT OLE MISS! But that doesn't make it a bad choice for him, it just means he's willing to settle for a small bowl each year and have mommy watch him play.
ps LSU is NOT that far away bro!

We havent heard any official word he's cancelled. Therefore, its on IMO.
Now, he could be a silent to OM and visiting for fun, but Miles is "The Closer" and OM fans shouldnt sleep easy if he makes it to BR this weekend.

I really wish LSU fans would stop assuming that if a kid doesn't go to LSU, he's being paid. That's only true with Auburn.
This one is going to be the drama. The school's are a wash distance wise. It comes down to CJ wanting to stay in Mississippi and play with the Mississippi version of the FAM v. CJ wanting to win football games/championships and be groomed by one of the best linebacking gurus ever.
We're all biased. Obviously LSU makes more logic. But don't underestimate the emotional draw of Ole Miss.
And let's approach this with some dignity. Quit the unsubstantiated talk of pay-for-play.

this one is a no brainer, IMO.
Best D in the SEC, one of the best nationally, unanimous pre season top 5 team, huge hole at his position (very little competition, should see field immediately), outstanding young D line in front of him to let him run to the ball and make plays for the next 3-4 years, aggressive D coordinator who lets his LBers make plays,
I mean, it just goes on....
the only reason to go to OM? is a home school. Its likely he will struggle more there, but thats his choice.
to me, CJ to LSU makes as much sense as Mett to LSU. The fit, the timing and the need is absolutely perfect

Recruiting isn't black and white.
It's about mainly about relationships with coaches, comfort level at the school, and how the family feels about the entire process and each destination.
As fans, we look at the situations at each school and we try to convince ourselves that "X school makes more sense on paper" and "he should go to Y school bc they will be Top 10 next year", but that really doesn't mean anything specifically regarding every recruit, even all biases aside.
Jus sayin...

there could be any number of off the field intangibles. Hell, the girls and party life could be a deciding factor for some guys.
All we can measure are the onfield factors, and for that LSU makes the most sense, at least IMO.

Rivals Radio had their recruiting "expert" on this morning. This is basically what he said about CJ:
CJ is close friends with several recruits in the state of Mississippi. They all wanted to go to school together and choose MSU. When MSU lost their DC, a few MSC commits switched to Ole Miss.
The assumption is that CJ is leaning Ole Miss to play with the other Mississippi recruits. But, if Miles can get him to visit LSU...rivals gives LSU the odds to sign him.

When teams consistently dominate the instate recruiting trail, it's a logical argument. When a team, such as Ole Miss, never fully dominates the state, it becomes abundantly clear that the "stay at home argument" becomes nothing short of meaningless.

It is not "meaningless" and is effective, or we would not be sweating this particular recruit.

What does that have to do with what I said. I was saying I understand the recruiting ploy when it's something that has become custon. In LA, it's customary for the top players these days to go to LSU. That doesn't always occur but is the norm. In Ole Miss, that hasn't been the norm in how long if ever.
I'm sweating CJ because we need good linebackers and he's a good linebacker. Pretty simple.
