He made a comment that got my attention about the recruiting of LSU and Alabama.

Saying in the past some instate recruits have run off to Alabama to attend their spring games and skipped ours.

Is that true? I've never heard this.

He said this year no instate recruits skipped ours to attend theirs. If that's true then that's a small detail that looks really good.

Yeah, they had problems the last few years since for some reason they continue to schedule it for the same weekend as Bama's.

I think Trey Palmer was the only in-state guy that went to Bama this weekend, which is a huge testament to this staff

I'd be interested to see who sets the date first each year, honestly.

This is correct. He has been to multiple spring practices at LSU though, so I'm not sure it's a big worry.

Trey Palmer a 2019 WR from Amite was the only one to attend their spring game. That's a GIGANTIC difference from what we've been used to seeing.

The 2 other elite 2019 Amite kids came to LSU...Lee and Sophster.

This was their Louisiana visitor list for their 2016 spring game:

Bruce Jordan-Swilling, 4-star LB, New Orleans (La.) Brother Martin
Devonta Smith, 4-star WR, Amite (La.)
Christopher Allen, 4-star LB, Baton Rouge (La.) Southern University Lab
Travis Etienne, 3-star RB, Jennings (La.)
Phidarian Mathis, 3-star DT, Monroe (La.) Neville
Elijah Walker, QB, Amite (La.)
Angelo Collins, 2018 S, Monroe (La.) Ouachita Parish
Dylan Rathcke, 2019 OT, Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab

Notice a trend of which of those 2017 kids picked LSU?...yeah

Palmer is from Kentwood, not Amite.

Palmer is from Kentwood and is a stud.

Crazy that LSU didn't sign one guy who left to go to the Bama spring game. I guess that says everything right there.

I think the new direction and enthusiasm that coach O is bringing to the program is helping with this. I also think the fact that Bama lost the NC has loosened the idea that they are the only team that can win a championship.
Hopefully recruits will want to be part of building a new dynasty instead of just being an afterthought of a soulless program.

whomever is scheduling 2nd intentionally has to be aware that it's potentially a very sharp double-edged sword.

And wouldn't conventional "recruiting" wisdom say you'd want to be the following weekend? Be the last visit type thing.

The dates for the Spring game are tied to when final exams are and where a team is with its allotment of Spring practices. A team only has so many dates on its Spring calendar to practice & get its game in. And LSU sets the dates for finals & the football team has to work around that period.

Please cut the crap about bag men and $$$! No one needs to insinuate such! Do you want LSU to be like Ole Miss about to lose their program??? The sheer stupidity by some in this site is mind boggling!!
